Efficient cloud cost management and streamlined data access are crucial features for individuals whose work revolves around managing reports. Whether it’s for the finance team or executive leaders, it’s essential that cost-related data for their organizations is not only relevant but also easily accessible. While all reports have their importance, many prefer quick and hassle-free access, which makes sense given today’s fast-paced and highly competitive world.

To support you in these efforts, take a look at the updates we’ve rolled out this week. Stay informed about the enhancements we’ve added to help improve your cloud cost management and make your decision-making process even more efficient!


🆕Cost Explorer Data for Onboarding

During the onboarding process, one concern customers often express is whether they can easily view their data in Octo. While directly retrieving data from the CUR is more accurate and comprehensive, not everyone has the patience for it, especially when they need to access specific data quickly.

With this in mind, we have enhanced our system to allow account registration in Octo by pulling data directly from AWS Cost Explorer, instead of relying solely on the Cost and Usage Report (CUR).

Take note: If CUR data is already available, the system will prioritize and follow that data source

Highlighted steps for Account Registration:

  • Start your account registration: Navigate to the account registration page and begin the process by following the provided instructions.

  • Set up API Access: During the registration process, it is important to set up the API access. This step enables the system to retrieve data directly from the AWS Cost Explorer.

  • Confirm API Access: Click on the Check and Confirm Accessbutton. At this stage, the system verifies the API integration and retrieves the data from the Cost Explorer. The functionality for ‘getting the data from the Cost Explorer’ is integrated into this step to ensure a smooth pulling of data.

With these, users can gain immediate insights without waiting for the CUR setup, which can be time-consuming. This ensures a smoother onboarding process while still supporting the CUR for comprehensive reporting when available.


🆕Report Selection Filter

Users commonly face challenges in identifying and managing reports efficiently especially in cloud-based reports that often accumulate rapidly and lack intuitive organization. As a result, they often share feedback that their productivity slows down because they spend more time searching for the said report rather than seamlessly analyzing it.

To address this issue, we’ve introduced filters in the report selection process. This enables users to quickly and easily identify specific reports using filter chips, allowing them to narrow down options by selecting relevant criteria, thereby saving time and improving overall efficiency.

🛠️Minor Bug Fixes and Improvements

We have also made some minor bug fixes and improvements to other existing features.
