The Coworker desktop app includes a built-in meeting recorder that captures audio from calls happening on your computer — including Google Meet, Zoom, and other virtual meeting platforms — without requiring the Coworker Notetaker bot to join as an attendee.
Prerequisite
The Coworker desktop app must be installed (currently available for macOS)
How it works
When you join a meeting on your computer, the Coworker desktop app detects the active meeting and displays a notification prompt at the bottom of the app window. From there you can:
Start recording: Accept the prompt to begin capturing audio from your meeting
Dismiss: Decline the prompt if you don't want to record this particular meeting
Once you start recording, the desktop app captures audio locally and processes it into a transcript and summary report, which appear in your Meetings feed after the call.
How desktop recording differs from Notetaker bot
| Notetaker Bot | Desktop Recorder |
Appears in meeting | Yes — visible as an attendee | No — invisible to other participants |
Requires admission | Yes — must be let in from waiting room | No — records locally from your device |
Platform | Google Meet and Zoom | Any platform playing audio on your computer |
Setup required | Calendar connection | Desktop app installation |
Notes
The desktop recorder is currently available on macOS only.
You may need to grant the Coworker app microphone and screen recording permissions in your macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security.
For scheduled meetings, the desktop recorder identifies the meeting when you join but does not pre-join like the Notetaker bot.
You can also use the desktop app to start an Instant Meeting — an on-demand audio capture session with no meeting invite required.
