How to fix the “reCAPTCHA too low” error

Try these steps if Google’s security check is blocking your login.

Updated this week

If you see a “reCAPTCHA too low” message when signing in, Google’s security system may be blocking the login attempt. This can happen after several failed sign-in attempts or when you are using a VPN.

Try these steps

  1. Sign in to a Google service
If possible, sign in to a Google account in the same browser, such as Gmail or YouTube. This can help Google recognize that you are a real user.

  2. Turn off your VPN if you are using one
VPN traffic can sometimes trigger Google’s bot-detection systems. If you are connected to a VPN, disconnect it and try signing in again. The current article notes VPN use as one cause of this error.

  3. Clear your browser cache and cookies
Old or corrupted browser data can interfere with reCAPTCHA checks. Clear your cache and cookies, then return to the sign-in page and try again.
