Crux uses encryption to keep your information unreadable to anyone except you (and your nominees after activation). This article explains encryption in simple, non-technical terms.
What Encryption Means
Think of encryption as locking your information inside a safe with a key only you have.
Crux uses two types of encryption:
1. Encryption In Transit
Protects your data when it travels from your device to Crux.
2. Encryption At Rest
Protects your data while stored on our servers.
Zero-Knowledge Explained
Zero-knowledge means:
Crux never sees or decrypts your data
Your files are unreadable to anyone but you
Nominees only access encrypted content after a verified emergency
Crux holds the encrypted “safe,” but only you hold the key.
Troubleshooting
What if someone hacks Crux? They would only see encrypted, unreadable data.
What if Crux employees try to view my documents? They technically cannot. Crux does not have the decryption keys, so even our team cannot access your information.
