How to Use GMX Referral Code "PRO": Full Guide (2026)

To use GMX referral code PRO, connect your wallet through the PRO link and place an order, and GMX cuts your position fee by 10%. You can also type PRO on the Trader Benefits tab of the Referrals page. The code goes on chain with your first order that carries a valid code. Your wallet keeps the discount after graduation, because GMX moves Tier 2 and Tier 3 traders to a protocol code with the same 10%. Checked on 12 October 2026 against the GMX docs.

GMX referral code PRO card with the 10% discount on GMX position fees

GMX referral code PRO: 10% off position fees. GMX takes the discount off the position fee when your order executes. You do not claim anything or wait for a payout.

What do you need before you use code PRO on GMX?

GMX needs only a crypto wallet and some funds on the network where you want to trade. GMX is non-custodial. You do not make an account, give an email address or pass a KYC check. Your positions open from your own wallet, and the collateral comes from that wallet.

Before you start, decide which network you will use. The GMX app FAQ says that you must apply a referral code on each network separately. An on-chain read of the GMX ReferralStorage contracts on 12 October 2026 showed a 10% trader discount for PRO on Arbitrum, Avalanche and MegaETH. So the code works on all three. Apply it on each network that you use.

Check one more point first. GMX terms restrict the interface in some jurisdictions. Read the GMX terms for your location before you connect a wallet.

How to use GMX referral code PRO, step by step

GMX referral code PRO starts to work after five short steps. The Trader Benefits tab in the app shows three short steps: "Connect wallet", "Enter referral code" and "Start trading". The list below adds the link route and the moment when the code goes on chain.

  1. Open the GMX trade page with code PRO in the browser that has your wallet. The link saves PRO in that browser.

  2. Connect your wallet. Select the network that you want to trade on.

  3. If you prefer the manual route, go to the Referrals page and open the Trader Benefits tab. Enter PRO as your referral code.

  4. Choose a market and set up your trade. Check the fees that the app shows before you confirm.

  5. Place your first order. GMX writes PRO to the contract when you create an order with a registered and valid code.

The address of the Trader Benefits tab was app.gmx.io/referrals/traders when we read the app on 22 September 2026. The same page has two other tabs, "Create Referral Code" and "Distributions". Traders need only the Trader Benefits tab.

You can use the link or the manual field. Both routes set the same referral code. The manual field also works when you already traded. For a short side-by-side view of the two routes, read what GMX code PRO gives you and where to enter it.

Why does the GMX link store PRO in your browser?

GMX stores the code from the link in your browser so that the app can attach it to your first order. The GMX docs describe the order of events. First, the browser keeps the code. Then the contract records it the first time you create an order with a registered and valid code.

The link alone does not change anything on chain. If you open the link and close the tab, no record exists yet. If you use a different browser later, open the link again there or type PRO on the Trader Benefits tab.

The link format in the docs is app.gmx.io/trade/?ref= followed by the code. Older links in the app.gmx.io/#/trade/ format still work. The docs say they redirect to the new format and keep the code.

What happens on chain at your first GMX order?

Your first GMX order with a valid code writes PRO to the referral contract for your wallet. From that order on, each position fee gets the 10% trader discount. GMX takes the discount off at trade execution, so no claim step exists for traders.

Every GMX trade uses two transactions. You send a request, and a keeper executes it in a second transaction. The network fee pays for the gas of that second transaction. Our GMX fees guide with code PRO explains the network fee and every other cost line.

The discount covers the position fee when you open, close, increase or partially decrease a position. On most markets, code PRO changes the rates of 0.04% and 0.06% to 0.036% and 0.054%. On a $100,000 position at 0.06%, the position fee falls from $60 to $54 with PRO. The docs say that referral discounts do not cover borrow fees or funding fees.

How do you confirm the active code on GMX?

GMX shows the active referral code for your wallet on the Referrals page, so go there after your first order. Open the Trader Benefits tab while the same wallet is connected. Check that the code says PRO, in upper case.

Do the check on each network that you use. The app FAQ says to apply a code on each network separately. Switch the network in the app, then open the Trader Benefits tab again.

The Referrals page can also show a GMX protocol code in place of a referral code. The docs say that the interface then explains why GMX assigned it. The reason is an organic volume threshold or a referral code that reached graduation. Both cases are explained below.

If the page shows no code after an order, check three points. Did you connect the same wallet? Are you on the same network? Did you type the code in upper case? If all three are correct, enter PRO on the Trader Benefits tab before your next order.

Can you add GMX code PRO after earlier trades?

Yes, you can add GMX code PRO after earlier trades by typing it on the Trader Benefits tab. Do it before your next order. The docs do not describe a discount on past trades.

Do not expect a refund of fees from your earlier trades. The docs say GMX deducts the discount from the position fee at execution.

The docs describe the link route for the first order with a valid code. For a wallet with a trade history, use the Trader Benefits tab. Then confirm the active code. Always use one wallet that you own and control.

How does GMX graduation work?

GMX graduation moves a trader from a referral code to a GMX protocol code after one of two limits. The first limit is 12 months on the code. The second limit is $20,000 in affiliate rewards that the trader generated for that referrer. The first limit that the trader reaches applies.

The docs say that graduation applies per trader. The two limits are the same for every tier. The original tier of the code decides only which protocol code comes next.

For PRO, the result is good for the trader. An on-chain read showed PRO as a Tier 3 code on Arbitrum, with a 10% trader discount and a 15% affiliate reward. Traders who graduate from a Tier 2 or Tier 3 code move to DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_10. That protocol code keeps your 10% discount. Only the affiliate reward to the referrer stops.

You do not need to act at graduation. GMX assigns the protocol code. Your next position fee still has the discount, and the Referrals page shows the new code with its reason.

Which GMX protocol codes exist?

GMX uses four protocol codes, and each one gives a trader discount with no affiliate reward. Two codes come from graduation. Two codes come from organic trading volume on Arbitrum.

Protocol code

When GMX assigns it

Trader discount

Affiliate reward

DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_5

Trader graduates from a Tier 1 referral code

5%

0%

DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_10

Trader graduates from a Tier 2 or Tier 3 referral code, such as PRO

10%

0%

EARNED_TRADER_DISCOUNT_5

Trader reaches $50 million in lifetime Arbitrum volume, with no higher eligible protocol code

5%

0%

EARNED_TRADER_DISCOUNT_10

Trader reaches $250 million in lifetime Arbitrum volume, with no higher eligible protocol code

10%

0%

The table shows why the code tier matters. A Tier 1 code gives 5%, and its graduates keep 5%. A Tier 2 or Tier 3 code such as PRO gives 10%, and its graduates keep 10%. The docs tier table lists Tier 2 and Tier 3 together at 10% for traders.

What are the GMX organic VIP tiers?

GMX organic VIP tiers give a fee discount to traders with very high lifetime volume on Arbitrum, with no code. At $50 million in lifetime Arbitrum volume, GMX assigns an automatic 5% discount. At $250 million, the discount goes up to 10%.

You do not apply for these tiers. GMX assigns the code by itself. The docs base the tiers only on Arbitrum lifetime volume.

The docs add one condition. GMX assigns each organic code only to a trader who has no higher eligible protocol code. A trader who already graduated to DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_10 has a 10% protocol code. Code PRO gives the 10% discount without any volume threshold.

Common mistakes with GMX code PRO

Most GMX referral problems come from a small set of mistakes, and each one has a simple fix.

  • Lower-case letters. GMX codes are case-sensitive. Type PRO in upper case.

  • Wrong network. The code binds per network. Apply it on each network where you trade.

  • Wrong wallet. The code goes to the wallet that placed the order. Check the Referrals page with that wallet connected.

  • Link opened in a different browser. The link saves the code in one browser only. Open the link in the browser that holds your wallet.

  • Hope for a refund on old trades. The docs describe no discount on past trades. Do not expect a refund.

  • Hope for a discount on every fee. PRO lowers the position fee only. Borrow fees and funding fees stay the same.

  • Fear of graduation. Graduation from PRO keeps your 10% discount through DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_10.

The tier system in the docs exists to stop self-referral games. Use one wallet that you control, and the code works as described.

Safety basics on GMX

GMX safety starts with your wallet, because GMX never holds your funds. You are the only person who controls the keys. Keep your seed phrase offline and never type it into a website. A referral discount never needs your seed phrase.

Read each wallet prompt before you sign it. Check that the site is app.gmx.io before you connect. A fake site can copy the look of a real app.

Plan for liquidation before you open a position. Leveraged trading can lose the full collateral fast. The docs say that capped negative price impact counts in the liquidation price. Borrow fees and funding fees also run while a position stays open.

GMX lets you add Take-Profit or Stop-Loss orders when you place a position. If those orders do not trigger and you cancel them, GMX refunds their network fees in full. Set a stop that you can accept before you trade.

Frequently asked questions

Does GMX code PRO stop after 12 months?

No. After 12 months on PRO, or after $20,000 in affiliate rewards for the referrer, GMX moves you to DIRECT_GMX_DISCOUNT_10. Your 10% discount stays.

Do I need to enter code PRO again after graduation?

No. GMX assigns the protocol code itself. The Referrals page shows the new code and the reason for it.

Can I use the PRO link on a wallet that already traded on GMX?

The contract records a code at the first order with a valid code. For a wallet with earlier trades, type PRO on the Trader Benefits tab before your next order. Then confirm the active code.

Does the volume of my trades change the PRO discount?

The docs list no volume rule for the 10% PRO discount. The organic VIP tiers at $50 million and $250 million of Arbitrum volume are a separate system.

Where do I see which code my wallet uses?

Open the Referrals page and select the Trader Benefits tab with the same wallet and network. The page shows the active referral code.

Does a referral code give me access to more markets or features?

No. The GMX docs describe only a trader discount on the position fee for referred traders. The docs list no other benefit for them.

Risk warning

Leveraged perpetual trading on GMX can lose your full collateral fast. Borrow fees and funding fees add to your costs while a position is open. This guide gives general information. It is not financial advice.
