Introduction

Tracking waste is a key part of any environmental management operation. It's important to accurately record how much waste is being excavated/generated to keep track of costs, and track where it's being disposed of to meet any environmental compliance obligations with environmental protection agencies.

In Dashpivot this whole process can be streamlined - from the person in the field recording the quantity of waste per truck/load being extracted using the mobile/tablet app, to your environmental officer/manager who oversees the cumulative quantities of waste being carted using Dashpivot's analytics tools on the website.

Dashpivot's mobile app is simple user-friendly to make recording information quick and easy (even when you're offline), and all the data syncs to the website in realtime so you can understand how you're tracking at the click of a button. There's no need to worry about dockets getting lost or forgotten, and the software can support thousands of dockets being generated daily.

How it works

Key Features

  • Keep track of quantities of waste being recorded in realtime

  • Ensure compliance with any environmental/legal reporting requirements

  • Organise all of your dockets in one place, easy to review, export or search in an audit

  • The Dashpivot app is easy to use in the field (on phones and tablets), and supports rich data inputs like photos, videos and electronic signatures

  • Dashpivot's analytics help you filter all your data to draw insights

  • Workflow notifications can automatically notify the right person once a load is complete

  • Export professional company-branded PDFs of each docket with your logo, and auto-populated data about what project the dockets belong to

Best Practices

  • Setup your waste tracking docket template as workflows so you can easily track which loads have been delivered and which haven't. It can be as simple as having 2 columns, one for 'collected' and one for 'disposed'

  • Setup workflow notifications if you need to notify someone at each step

  • Make sure you use a table for tracking each load, even if each docket only has 1 load recorded on it. This will allow you to use the analytics because the quantities being recorded are compatible. It's important to make sure the column in your table for recording the quantity is set to be 'Number' and any parameters you want to filter by (eg. company, origin location, material class, etc) need to be setup as dropdown lists within the same table (see video above)

  • Use list fields where possible (eg. waste type, origin location, transportation contractor) to make filtering for information much easier later down the track in the register view. You'll also be able to filter or breakdown the total waste volume by these variables in any analytics charts you create

  • In the template settings, set the form thumbnail to display the date, so it's clear which day the docket was for

  • In the template settings, make sure your forms are sorted by the date field on your template (not the creation date), as this will determine what days the quantities show up for in the analytics

  • Include a 'manual signature' field on the form so that external users (who don't have a Dashpivot account) can sign on if required. For example, the personnel at the disposal location can sign off to confirm the load has been received.

  • Include a photo field so that photos of receipts, waste, or weigh bridge readings can be captured and attached to the docket
