Introduction

Working on site can be a dangerous job.

There are so many variables and activities taking place at any given time - people coming and going, machinery moving around, materials being delivered, waste collected, weather conditions changing hour to hour...the work environment is always changing.

This means theres a lot to pay attention to, and is why it's important to routinely look around your worksite to identify hazards and address them before someone gets injured.

Having a way to quickly record, track and action hazards on the fly is really important, and can be done using Dashpivot as part of your wider safety management system.

Using a Hazard Reporting Workflow, you can keep your team notified about hazards around site, assess the risk and take action (or plan corrective actions), to ensure you and your team get home safe.

In addition, Dashpivot can help you identify any patterns in the types of hazards your team reports, and observe any trends in their frequency. With these actionable insights you can take steps toward improving the safety of your project teams.

How it works

Key Features

  • Record hazards on site at the time you observe them using the mobile/tablet app

  • Add as many photos and video to the form as required

  • Instantly and automatically notify the right person as the hazards are actioned and signed off, so they can be closed out by the right person (and done remotely if preferred)

  • Automatically generate a register of all hazards, with ability to filter by category for severity, area, status, person

  • Send PDF copies of the hazards you record to anyone from your phone, tablet or computer

  • Download or export hazard reports onto professional, company-branded PDFs which can be printed/emailed and issued if required.

  • Over time, identify patterns or trends in the types of hazards which keep getting reported on site. Identify which areas they occur in, and whether the frequency is increasing or decreasing

Best Practices

  • Setup your Defect template as workflows to clarify and standardise the steps in your hazard reporting and rectification process

  • Setup workflow notifications at each step in the workflow to notify the right person at the right time (instantly)

  • Include a photo field so that photos and videos can be attached to the form of the hazard before being actioned, and after being actioned

  • Use list fields where applicable (eg. area, severity), to make it easy to find records later via the register view, and filter by the list items on any analytics charts

  • Use a category field to indicate which parties are involved/responsible, to make it easy to filter and find these records later via the register view

  • In the template settings, make sure the forms are sorted by the date on the form (not the creation date)

  • In the template settings, set the form thumbnail to display the severity of the hazard so its immediately obvious which hazards to action first
