An eConsent record is one consent form attached to one subject. There are three ways to create and share it, and which you use depends on whether the subject is standing in front of you.
You want to | Use |
Create the record now, without notifying the subject | Generate it manually, with No invitation |
Have the subject sign in front of you, at the center | In-person Signing |
Have the subject read and sign in their own time | Send it by email or SMS |
Generate a record manually
š ļø Step by step guide
Go to the Subjects page in your study.
Select + Subject to create a new subject profile.
Fill in the subject's details and save.
Open the eConsent tab for that subject.
Click + Add eConsent.
Choose No invitation.
If several eConsent forms are available, select the one you need.
Click Invite to generate the record.
Have the subject sign on site
The subject signs on their own device, using a QR code you show them, so the signature is theirs rather than yours.
š ļø Step by step guide
Go to the Subjects page.
Search for the subject and open their eConsent tab.
Open the options panel, the three dots.
Select In-person Signing.
Confirm the on-site process by checking the box.
Ask the subject to scan the QR code and sign on their device.
Send it by email or SMS
Use this to send the form for remote review and signature. The subject receives a secure link to open and sign the document.
š ļø Step by step guide
Go to the Subjects page.
Search for the subject and open their eConsent tab.
Open the options panel, the three dots.
Select Resend.
Choose Email or SMS.
Customize the message if you want to.
Click Invite.
š” Tip: a link on its own is not informed consent. Back the digital form with a real conversation, by phone or video call, for example through Datacapt eConsult, so the subject can ask questions before they sign rather than after.
Resend the account invitation
This is a different problem from resending the consent. If the subject has not created their personal account yet, they cannot reach any consent you send them.
š ļø Step by step guide
Go to the Subjects page.
Search for the subject.
Click Resend Invite. The subject receives a new secure email to set up their account.
