Generate and share eConsent to participants

You can create and share eConsent records using different methods, depending on your study setup and subject workflow:

  • Manually – Create the record yourself in Datacapt.

  • On-site signature – Generate the record and have the subject sign it in person.

  • By email/SMS – Send the consent form to the subject for remote review and signature.

How to manually generate an eConsent record

  1. Go to the “Subjects” page in your study.

  2. Select "+ Subject" to create a new subject profile.

  3. Fill in the subject’s details and save.

  4. Open the “eConsent” tab for that subject.

  5. Click "+ Add eConsent".

  6. Choose “No invitation”.

  7. If multiple eCONSENT forms are available, select the appropriate one.

  8. Click “Invite” to generate the eCONSENT record.

How to use on-site signature

  1. Go to the “Subjects” page.

  2. Search for the subject and open their “eConsent” tab.

  3. Open the options panel (three dots).

  4. Select “In-person Signing”.

  5. Confirm the on-site process by checking the box.

  6. Ask the subject to scan the QR code to sign on their device.

How to generate eConsent by email or SMS

Use this method to send the eCONSENT form remotely, via email or SMS.

💡 Tip:
Digital consent should always be supported by clear communication. Consider using a call or video call (e.g., via Datacapt eCONSULT) to guide the subject.

Steps:

  1. Go to the “Subjects” page.

  2. Search for the subject and open their “eConsent” tab.

  3. Open the options panel (three dots).

  4. Select “Resend”.

  5. Choose “Email” or “SMS”.

  6. (Optional) Customize the message.

  7. Click “Invite”.

The subject will receive a secure link to access and sign the eCONSENT document.

How to resend invite

If the subject has not yet created their personal account, you can re-send the invitation.

Steps:

  1. Go to the “Subjects” page.

  2. Search for the subject.

  3. Click “Resend Invite”.

  4. The subject will receive a new secure email to set up their account.
