What are kit types?
Kit types represent the logical structure of materials used in a study, each kit type groups one or more therapeutic units or medical devices.
Examples:
A vial + syringe combination
A single injection device
Several bottles of product
⚠️ Important - Pre-requisite: You must have permissions to edit allocation configuration and manage kit types.

How to configure a kit type
Step 1 - Activate the allocation module
Open your study in Datacapt.
Go to the Study settings, open the RTSM tab, and activate Allocation.
Step 2 - Create and configure your kit type
Go to RTSM tab in study settings
Go to Kit Types configuration.
Click Add new kit type.
Fill in:
Label (mandatory)
Description (mandatory)
Click Save.
Missing fields trigger inline validation.
Once saved, the kit type appears in the table and becomes selectable in allocation dropdowns.
💡 You can also create kit types directly from the allocation configuration page using the dropdown “Add a new kit type”.
⚠️ Important - Rules to keep in mind
You can still create kit types while your modal is open, even if the study goes live.
Deletion is not allowed once the study is live.
Additional steps:
Editing a kit type
Go to Kit Types.
Click the ⋯ menu or the kit type name.
Select Edit.
Update label and/or description.
Click Save.
✅ Label changes propagate everywhere (inventory, allocation, eCRF).
Deleting a kit type
Go to Kit Types.
Click the ⋯ menu.
Select Delete.
Confirm in the modal.
⚠️ Important : Deletion is only possible in Draft studies.
If the kit type was used in a dummy list, update your inventory manually to reconcile lists.
