πŸ“ Overview

Workers' compensation insurance (workers' comp) is a type of required insurance that employers must hold to protect workers who are injured or become ill on the job. DaySmart Payroll partners with NEXT Insurance to offer workers' comp coverage as part of the payroll service.

πŸ’‘ Employers who have DaySmart Payroll manage their policy benefit from a pay-as-you-go plan. You are billed based on actual payroll amounts processed rather than an upfront estimate, and DaySmart Payroll handles payroll reporting to NEXT on your behalf.

πŸ“ Supported States

Workers' comp through DaySmart Payroll is available in all U.S. states except the following four, which operate state-run programs:

  • Ohio

  • North Dakota

  • Washington

  • Wyoming

πŸ› οΈ Requesting a New Policy Quote

If you do not already have a workers' comp policy, or if your existing policy was not originally obtained through NEXT, start by requesting a quote. Contact DaySmart Support to submit the request and have the following information ready:

  • Business name

  • Contact name

  • Contact phone number

  • Contact email address

  • First pay date with DaySmart Payroll

  • Payroll frequency

πŸ’‘ After the request is submitted, the NEXT team will contact you directly by email and phone within 1 to 3 business days to set up your policy.

πŸ”§ Transferring an Existing NEXT Policy

If you already have an active workers' comp policy through NEXT, you can request a policy transfer rather than applying for new coverage. Contact DaySmart Support to submit the request and have the following information ready:

  • Primary contact name

  • Email address

  • Contact phone number

  • Business name

  • Policy number

  • Provider the policy is currently under

βš™οΈ Policy Setup

Once the policy is finalized between NEXT and your business, NEXT will send DaySmart Payroll a policy confirmation. Your account will then be updated with the workers' comp details, and your future payrolls will be included in DaySmart Payroll's reporting process. Payroll reporting is submitted directly to NEXT on your behalf twice per week.
