Quick Troubleshooting for Mics:

Mic goes from red to blue on it's own:

  • Go to google.com, click on the microphone button.

  • Start speaking into your microphone- If google does not recognize your voice, proceed to the next step.

Checking Drivers:

  1. Go to Event Viewer ( you can search for it at the bottom of your windows search)

    Double-click here
  2. Click through the Windows Logs by double clicking to expand and then click through Application, Security, Setup, System to see if you see any errors.

  3. Click through the Information levels and errors, click into them, if any of them have anything to do with audio (example: audiodg.exe), you will want to reinstall your microphone drivers.

Reinstall your microphone drivers

  1. Open Device Manager:

    • Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager" from the list.

  2. Locate the Microphone:

    • In the Device Manager window, find and expand the section labeled "Audio inputs and outputs" or "Sound, video and game controllers."

  3. Uninstall the Microphone Driver:

    • Right-click on your microphone device and select "Uninstall device."

    • If prompted, choose to delete the driver software for the device.

  4. Restart Your Computer:

    • After uninstalling the driver, restart your computer. This ensures that any remaining traces of the old driver are removed.

  5. Install the Latest Driver:

    • After rebooting, Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.

    • If it doesn't, you may need to visit the manufacturer's website of your microphone or your computer's manufacturer to download and install the latest driver manually.

  6. Verify the Installation:

    • Once the driver installation is complete, check if your microphone is working properly by testing it with an application that uses the microphone (like google or try doing a chart in Bola).
