Bola Voice Commands Extension
Pocket Depths
You can chart up to nine measurements at a time
For best results, six - nine measurements at a time are recommended, but not more than that.
Here’s an example of charting normal pocket depths: | “Two, one, two” “Four, two, three, three, two, three, three two, four” |
Here’s a few examples when charting pocket depths greater than nine, say”: | “Five, seven, ten” “Ten, ten, twelve” |
Repeat command This can be used on pocket depths and GM row. | “three two three repeat five times” |
Bola AI’s Voice Perio system is automatically on Pocket Depths
To switch between PD or GM rows, say:
To begin continuous GM charting | “Start recession” “Start GM” “Start gingival margin”
|
To resume pocket depths | “Start pocket depths/PD” “chart pocket depths” |
Bola AI can understand and process many different combinations of commands, but they must be formulated in a specific way. However, there is a recommended structure for best results, which is to use following:
PERIO CONDITION
TOOTH NUMBER
POSITION
SURFACE
MEASUREMENT
Bleeding
Use these commands to chart bleeding
To mark bleeding, say:
Current tooth (where cursor is positioned) | “Bleeding” (marks central position) ”Bleeding mesial” “Bleeding mesial and distal” |
All positions on current tooth | “Bleeding all” ”BOP on all” |
Specific tooth on same side as cursor (Mesial or distal) position | “Bleeding on mesial of tooth number five” |
Specific tooth on opposite side of cursor | “Bleeding on distal lingual of tooth number five” |
Interproximal Bleeding | “Interproximal bleeding tooth five” Marks mesial and distal of tooth 5 “Interproximal bleeding tooth 5 and 6” marks mesial of tooth five and distal of tooth six
|
Interproximal bleeding by sections | “Interproximal bleeding sextant 1”
“Interproximal bleeding quadrant 2”
“Interproximal bleeding whole mouth” “Interproximal bleeding full mouth” |
Bleeding on entire sextant | “Bleeding on sextant three” |
Bleeding on entire quadrant | “Bleeding on quadrant one” |
Bleeding on entire mouth | “Bleeding full mouth” “Bleeding whole mouth” |
Gingival Margin/Recession
Continuous Gingival Margin
When charting multiple measurements at a time, you don’t need to use the key word ”with” for charting gingival margin.
You can move the cursor to the GM row by saying: | “start gingival margin” or “start recession”. |
When continuously charting GM measurements say: | “zero, one, zero” “one, one, one.” “one, two, one” |
Spot Charting Gingival Margin
Gingival Margin/Recession use the key word ”With” when charting a single or specific tooth. The cursor must be on the pocket depths row to spot chat gingival margin.
Negative Recession
NOTE: Speaking only numbers (e.g., one, two, three) on the GM row will add the value of the pocket depth and recession values and display it on the CAL row. If you say “plus” followed by the numbers (e.g. plus one, plus two…), the CAL row will display a subtraction of the Gingival Margin value from the Pocket Depth value. |

|
|
Negative values | “Gingival margin plus one, plus one, plus one” |
Specific tooth and side (single value) | “Gingival margin tooth number six lingual plus two”. |
When charting negative GM on multiple measurements, say: | “Plus two, plus three, plus one.” “plus three Plus one plus two”
|
When charting negative gingival margin on specific tooth on same side buccal or lingual. When charting negative gingival margin on specific tooth on a different side buccal or lingual
Mixing positive and negative values | Gingival margin tooth number five plus one” (single measurement) “Gingival margin tooth number seven lingual plus one, plus two plus one” (three measurements)
“Gingival margin tooth number four zero, one, plus two” “Gingival margin tooth number seven lingual plus one, plus two, plus one”
|
Furcation
Furcation records one value per tooth and must include “GRADE” or “CLASS”.
Furcation can only be entered on the side and site for the following teeth: 1- 3, 14-16, 17-19, 30-32. To mark Furcation, say:
Current tooth | “Furcation grade two” (If on buccal) “Furcation grade two mesio/disto lingual” (If on maxilla) |
Tooth away from cursor position | “Furcation grade two on tooth number 2 buccal” “Furcation grade two on lingual of tooth thirty” |
Mobility
Mobility records one value per tooth and must include “plus” or “class.” Mobility values can be from one to four. To mark mobility, say:
Current tooth | “Mobility plus three” |
Specific tooth | “Mobility tooth number five plus one” |
Suppuration
Suppuration can be marked on three positions and on both surfaces
of the tooth. To mark suppuration, say:
Current tooth | “Suppuration” marks straight buccal or lingual position |
Current tooth and position | “Suppuration mesial” “Suppuration mesial and distal” “Suppuration on all” |
Specific tooth | “Suppuration on tooth number two lingual” |
Specific tooth and side | “Suppuration on the distal lingual of tooth number two” |
Sextant | “Suppuration on sextant one” |
Quadrant | “Suppuration on quadrant two” |
Whole mouth | “Suppuration on full mouth” |
Controls
To jump to another tooth, Say: | “Jump to tooth number five” “Go to tooth number five” |
To jump to another tooth on the other side | “Jump to tooth number five lingual” “Go to tooth number five lingual” “Skip to tooth number five” “Skip to tooth number five lingual” |
To go back to the previous tooth, say: | “Back” or “Go back”
|
To go to the next tooth say | “Skip” or “Next” |
To remove the last command, say: | “Undo” |
You can shut off the microphone | “Bola stop” |
International Users (outside the US)
For those users who use the international tooth numbering system, you can use the same commands listed in this document but please replace the international format for the tooth number.
e.g.: "Bleeding on tooth twelve" for "Bleeding on tooth two four"
