Statutory declarations are a legal document signed by a Solicitor, Notary or Justice of the Peace that says "this is what I was doing at this time".

We request you obtain a statutory declaration when we cannot cover a period in your background check with an activity, and we have been unable to evidence it with supporting documentation. These documents confirm that you had no activity up to a maximum period of six months.

They are a legal document signed by a Solicitor, Notary or Justice of the Peace that generally costs between £5-£15 pounds. You can also Google Notary's in your area and be able to get it this way as it may be quicker. Depending on your area costs may vary.

We cannot clear you with any non-verified gaps of more than 31 days, so anything you can do to ensure all activities are verified will help ensure you pass your check.

If you are made aware that a statutory declaration is required, without this document or acceptable evidence for this period of time in you activity history, we would be unable to progress your application further.

We can provide you with a template document to take to your solicitor/notary appointment if required.
