Using the Spec Index

Generate a table-based index report that displays specs in a spreadsheet-like format

Steps

  1. Go to the Reports tab

  2. Click DesignSpec Index

  3. Configure settings on the right: Generate full report, or Apply filters for a specific subset

  4. Click Apply

Settings Options

  • Group By: Spec Type (default), Area, Category

  • Include Prices: Unit costs and totals

  • Include Unit Cell Costs: Detailed cost breakdown

  • Include Budget Totals: Area and project totals

  • Include Linked Specs: Show related specs

  • Highlight Revisions: Show changes in red

Report Layout

Default (Grouped by Type)

  • Specs listed under type headers (Accessories, Furniture, etc.)

  • Table format with columns for spec details

Grouped by Area

  • Starts with unassigned specs

  • Then lists specs under each area

  • Includes area budget totals

Customization

  • The default Spec Index layout is locked

  • To create a custom table-based index, use the Custom Report Designer

Export Options

  • Download as PDF or Excel

Tips

  • Use presets to save frequently-used filter combinations

  • The index is great for overview documents and submittal tracking

  • Prices appear per line item when enabled
