About This Tutorial
With rate packages, you set up how much and how often your students will pay you. You can create any number of these to fit the needs of your music studio.
Note: You want to create your rate packages before adding any students, because you cannot add a student unless you assign them a rate package.
There are four types of rate packages you can setup:
Per lesson
Per week(s)
Per month(s)
Per semester/term
This tutorial will walk you through creating one of each type. Once you create a rate package, you can assign it to as many students as you need.
Go to Your Rates Tab
The first thing you need to do is go to your Rates tab. Once there you can follow along with the rest of this tutorial.
To get to your Rates tab:
Log in to your Duet account: https://duetpartner.com/login
Click on your name > Settings. Located at the top right corner of the webpage.
You are taken directly into your Studio tab by default.
Click on the Rates tab.
Create a Rate Package to Charge Per Lesson
Let’s say you want to charge beginning piano students $40.00 per lesson. Here is how you fill out the form.
Fill out the top part of the form.
Name: Beginning Piano
Amount: $40.00
Every: 1
Period: Lesson
Description: (optional) These are notes, for yourself, about the rate package.
Select “Charge once for the amount of the whole lesson set”.
When done click on the Create New Rate Package button.
Your rate package will now show in the Existing Rate Packages list, located just below the form.
Create a Rate Package to Charge Per Week
When you charge per week, Duet will auto charge your students every Monday. This auto charge happens whether any lessons took place or not.
Let’s say you want to charge intermediate guitar students $100.00 per week. Here is how you fill out the form.
Fill out the top part of the form.
Next, you want to set the date when Duet will start the auto charging process.
For example, let's say you set the start date to be Saturday, February 26th, 2022. Auto charging will start on 2-26-22 and going forward. Any dates before this will not be charged.
Note: No matter which day the starting date is set to, Duet will always auto charge the student on a Monday.
Under Starting on this date, click on the calendar icon and choose a start date.
Your start date is now set.
When done click on the Create New Rate Package button.
Your rate package will now show in the Existing Rate Packages list, located just below the form.
Create a Rate Package to Charge Once Per Month
When you charge per month, Duet will auto charge your students at the date you set. This auto charge happens whether any lessons took place or not.
Let’s say you want to bill your choir students a flat fee of $400.00 per month. Here is how you fill out the form.
Fill out the top part of the form.
Name: Choir
Amount: $400.00
Every: 1
Period: Months
Description: (optional) These are notes, for yourself, about the rate package.
Next, you want to set the date when Duet will start the auto charging process.
For example, let's say you set the start date to be Tuesday, March 1st, 2022. Auto charging will start on 3-1-22 and going forward. Any dates before this will not be charged.
Under Starting on this date, click on the calendar icon and choose a start date. In this case we will keep the default, which is the first of the month.
Your start date is now set.
Next, choose the day of the month you want Duet to auto charge your students.
The default is on the 1st of the month, but you can change it to any day of the month. For example, if you choose the 15th then Duet will auto charge your students on the 15th of each month.
At the Automatically create a fee for this day of the month field, click on the down arrow. In this case we will keep the default which is the 1st of each month.
Your fee/charge day is now set.
When done click on the Create New Rate Package button.
Your new rate package will now show in the Existing Rate Packages list, located just below the form.
Create a Rate Package to Charge Per Semester/Term
When you charge per semester/term, Duet will auto charge your students at the beginning of the semester/term. This beginning date is set by you when you create the rate package. This auto charge happens whether any lessons took place or not.
Let’s say you want to charge university students a flat fee of $500.00 per semester/term. Here is how you fill out the form.
Fill out the top part of the form.
Name: University Students
Amount: $500.00
Every: 1
Period: Semester/Term
Description: (optional) These are notes, for yourself, about the rate package.
Choose the start date of the semester/term. Click on the calendar icon and choose a date. In this example we will choose March 1st, 2022.
Note: This will be the date when Duet will auto charge your students for the semester/term.
Choose the end date of the semester/term. Click on the calendar icon and choose a date. In this example we will choose June 3rd, 2022.
Your Semester/Term dates are now set.
When done click on the Create New Rate Package button.
Your rate package will now show in the Existing Rate Packages list, located just below the form.
