When uploading your voters, you'll import a spreadsheet that assigns information to your voters (e.g. usernames, access codes, first names, last names, etc.)
What your voter list spreadsheet should look like
Most important things to be aware of when creating and uploading your voter list spreadsheet
Errors will usually stem from one of these being handled incorrectly:
Make sure to download our template by clicking Voters (upper right hand corner) > Upload Voter List > "Click here to download a template"
The spreadsheet must include the following headers: Username, Access Code, Firstname, Lastname, Email, Filter1, Filter2
They must be spelled exactly as they are listed here and follow the same order
All headers must be in place even if the column does not contain information
If you opt for randomly generated access codes (passwords), leave the Access Code column blank and the system will generate these for each voter
Most common error messages when uploading voter lists
PreProcessing the File - ERROR! Your upload has failed. Your file has incorrect headers, please update these to the correct format and try again.
Why you received this message: One or more headers have been deleted or modified from the original template.
How to fix it: Either download the original template again or add the columns back, ensuring they are in the right order and spelled correctly.
PreProcessing the File - ERROR! Your upload has failed. You are trying to upload more voters than your current plan supports. To increase your voter count please access the Store page and purchase additional voters.
Why you received this message: Your available voter count is less than the number of voters being uploaded.
How to fix it: Remove voters from your spreadsheet or add more voters to your account.
PreProcessing the File - ERROR! Variable CHANGEUPLOADMODE is undefined.
Why you received this message: Your file name is not in a language the system is able to process.
How to fix it: Alter the name of your file and re-upload.
Upload to DB - ERROR: Your upload has failed. Please review your file as there are no Weights listed. If you do not have a weights for your voters please assign a "0" for all voters in this cell and try your upload again.
Why you received this message: The "weight" column is blank.
How to fix it: Insert a weight column in the same area as the template
Upload to DB - ERROR: Your upload has failed. Duplicates within the Username field have been found. Please correct these and try again.
Why you received this message: There are duplicate usernames or the username column is blank.
How to fix it: If the username column is blank, make sure to add usernames. If the column isn't blank, search for and remove any duplicate usernames.
Upload to DB - ERROR: Your upload has failed. Please review your file for any blank spaces or hidden characters as these are not supported. Once corrected, please try again.
Why you received this message: There are spaces in the sheet or there are unsupported characters
How to fix it: Remove any spaces or unsupported characters. Alternatively, you can download a new template and input your data, making sure to not alter the headers.
PreProcessing the File - ERROR! Stopped processing voter list as we encountered an error in the data. Line no.
Why you received this message: Data is missing or an error was found on a particular line.
How to fix it: Look for any blank cells (e.g. a missing first name, last name, or email) and input the correct information
Upload to DB - ERROR: Your upload has failed. You are missing Access Codes within the Access Code field for some voters. Please correct this and try again.
Why you received this message: One or more Access Codes are missing
How to fix it: Review the "Access Code" column for missing cells and add the information. Alternatively, if you want the system to generate random access codes for your voters, remove all data from the "Access Code" column.
