When and where does my pop-up show?

Written by Paul Kopats

You control this in the Behavior section of the editor:

  • Trigger — after a set time on the page (immediately, or after 5 seconds up to 3 minutes), or Exit-intent. The trigger comes from the preset; only Announcements let you change it in the editor.

  • Exit-intent shows the pop-up when the mouse moves out through the top of the window, as a visitor goes to leave. It works with a mouse, so it shows on desktop — not on phones and tablets. For mobile visitors, use a timed pop-up such as the Welcome discount.

  • Pages — any page in the store, or specific pages: Home, Product, Collection and Cart.

  • Devices — Desktop and mobile, Desktop only, or Mobile only. The device is decided by the browser window's width, so a narrow window on a computer counts as mobile.

How often visitors see pop-ups is set in Settings > Frequency:

  • On every visit — once per browser visit. Reloading the page or opening a new tab doesn't show it again until the browser is fully closed.

  • Just once — after a visitor closes it, it doesn't show again for 14 days.
