Guest Uploads let external users submit videos to your organization without needing an Echo Labs account. Create secure share links for students, professors, or collaborators to upload directly to specific folders.
Creating a Share Link
First, navigate to the folder where you want to receive uploads. Open the folder's settings menu and click Share Externally.
Share Link Settings
Enter the recipient's email address. This email receives the share link and identifies uploads from this person.
Set an expiration period:
7 days (default)
14 days
30 days
Custom date
Managing Share Links
View all active share links for a folder in the External Shares section of the share dialog.
Each link shows:
Recipient email
Creation date
Expiration date
Number of uploads received
Revoking Access
Click the revoke button next to any share link to immediately disable it. The recipient can no longer upload, but videos already submitted remain in your folder.
Guest Upload Experience
When recipients open the share link, they see a dedicated upload page for the specific folder. No login information necessary.
Uploading
Guests can:
Drag and drop files
Browse existing files
Paste video URLs from YouTube or Vimeo
Download completed videos
Downloading Results
Once videos finish processing, guests can download:
Burned-in video (captions embedded directly in video)
Caption files (SRT, VTT formats)
Transcript text (DOCX or TXT, with or without timestamps)
Share links to the video
Click the settings icon on any completed video to see download options. Or use Download All to get files for all completed videos at once.
Email Notifications
Guests receive email notifications when videos they uploaded via the portal complete processing. The email includes a link back to the share page where they can download files.
For multiple videos completing around the same time, one email lists all completed videos together.
Tracking Guest Uploads
Videos uploaded by guests are tagged with the uploader's email address. In Analytics, guest uploads appear attributed to the email address used in the share link.
