Admin How To: Change a User's Access to a Course

This will walk you through the different options for assigning or changing a teacher's access to a course.

Written by Heather Schultz

Before you start: Users must be added to your system first. Once they're in the system, you can assign or change their course access in the Curriculum Hub.

You can give teachers three levels of access to courses:

  • Owner: Can edit everything. Course appears under My Courses on their portal. (Tip: You can filter by owner in the Curriculum Hub.)

  • Editor: Can edit everything. Course appears under Shared Courses on their portal.

  • Viewer: Read-only access. Can make minor adaptations that only affect their own portal. Course appears under Shared Courses.

Change the Owner

  1. Go to the Curriculum Hub and locate the course

  2. Scroll right and click the ⋯ (three dots)

  3. Select Switch Owner

  4. Search or type the teacher's name or email

  5. Select the teacher and click Submit

The teacher will immediately see the course under My Courses.

Edit or View Access

  1. Go to the Curriculum Hub and locate the course

  2. Scroll right and click the ⋯ (three dots)

  3. Select Manage Access

  4. Search or type the teacher's name or email and select the teacher

  5. Choose Can Edit or Can View (right side)

  6. Click Invite

The teacher will immediately see the course under Shared Courses.

You can also manage a teacher's course access from User Management. Click on the teacher to see the courses assigned to them. From there, click Assign courses to give them access to a course, or scroll down to adjust the access they already have.

Assign a Course to Several Teachers at Once

  1. Click User Management

  2. Check the box next to each teacher you want to include

  3. Click Assign courses at the top of the list

  4. Select the course(s) you want to assign

  5. Click the dropdown next to the course and choose Can view or Can edit

  6. Click Assign

  • Course ownership can't be assigned in bulk. To change a course's Owner, follow the steps under Change the Owner above.

Please note: When a course is shared, all teachers work in the same course, so any changes made by someone with Edit access appear for everyone. To give each teacher their own version to edit independently, duplicate the course once for each teacher, then use Switch Owner to make each teacher the Owner of their copy. Their changes will then appear only in their own copy.
