FAQs from Administrators

Short answers to some common questions

Written by Grant Wootten
  • Does Edusfere align with national or state standards?

    • Yes, we have US standards for all 50 states and numerous national and independent organizations—and we are adding more all the time.

  • Can you load in our custom standards?

    • Yes, we have this capability, but it is additional work that falls outside the scope of our standard services, so an additional fee could apply. Please reach out to our team if you're interested in this service.

  • How often is the platform updated, and will it affect my data?

    • We update the platform frequently in small ways to improve user experience, finesse features and improve performance. We take special care to ensure that none of our updates will affect your data or result in data loss.

  • Can I use Edusfere if my school has limited internet connectivity?

    • As a web-based application, use of Edusfere assumes that you have reliable internet access.

  • Do lesson plans created in Edusfere remain private to the author?

    • Unless shared, they remain private to the author and their organization’s admin, who is able to view and manage all content within their school’s account.

  • What happens to content if we ever cancel?

    • We hope you'll be satisfied enough to stay with us. But if you ever decide to cancel, we keep your content for at least 90 days and can export it for you on request.

  • How do I give feedback or request a feature?

    • There is a blue (?)Help button in the bottom right corner of the site at all times. Clicking it will open our Help Center where you can request customer support, leave feedback, or request a feature.

  • Is there a mobile app or offline mode planned?

    • Yes, we are planning for both in the future.

  • Does Edusfere support multiple languages for international schools?

    • Right now the user interface of Edusfere is only available in English, but content can be input in most languages. We plan to expand language support as we grow.

  • Teachers have lessons that they created before Edusfere. Do they have to enter everything in again?

    • No. Teachers can import their existing lessons with our AI-assisted import instead of entering everything from scratch. We hate redundant work as much as you do!

    • Lessons can be imported from a variety of formats, including:

      • PDF, Word (DOCX), and PowerPoint (PPTX) files

      • Images, including a photo of a handwritten lesson plan

      • Files from Google Drive

      • Text copied and pasted directly into the import

    • The system pulls in the objectives, vocabulary, materials, and activities to build the lesson. Lessons are imported one at a time, so teachers can review each one and make any changes.

    • For step-by-step instructions, see our help article Teacher How To: Add Lessons.

  • Can several units, lessons, or whole courses be imported at once?

    • Not at this time. Units and lessons are imported one at a time so you can review what was generated, make any changes, and save before moving on to the next one.

    • As an Admin, you can still set up the structure of a course (the course, unit, and lesson titles) in the Curriculum Hub for teachers to build out.

  • What is Framework Alignment?

    • This is the percentage of standards from the framework that have been assigned to a course.

  • What is Course Alignment?

    • This is the percentage of standards that have been assigned to units inside a course.

  • What is Unit Alignment?

    • This is the percentage of standards selected for the unit that are addressed by at least one learning/lesson objective in a lesson.

  • What is Lesson Alignment?

    • This is the percentage of learning/lesson objectives that have been addressed (covered) by at least one activity in the lesson.

  • Is there a way to add our Expected Student Outcomes (ESOs) to Edusfere?

    • Yes. The best way to do this is under the Unit Form Template section found in Settings. You can search our Help files for an instructional video on best practices and how to add multi-select options to the Unit Template.

  • Can I change the unit template on a course after teachers have already started building units?

    • Yes. As an Admin, you can switch a course to a different template even after teachers have started building units. Important: Before you switch, compare the two templates side by side, since only fields with exactly the same name keep their data. For steps, see our Help article Unit Templates for Administrators.

  • How can I add more Standard frameworks to my school's account?

    • Log into your Edusfere Admin account and click on Settings.

    • Click on Standard Settings.

    • Click Edit and you will be able to view all of the standard frameworks available in Edusfere.

    • You can add any you need. There is no additional cost for adding frameworks that already exist in Edusfere.

    • Once you have chosen your options, click Save and the frameworks will be immediately available for your teachers to utilize.

    • Don't see the framework you need? Let us know using the Help button, and we'll pass your request along for our team to review.

  • How do I know when my teachers have taught a lesson?

    • With Edusfere's calendar feature, you have view access to every teacher's calendar through your Admin portal. For more information on this, see Class Calendar for Admin - Beta.

  • How can I review my teachers' lessons without signing in as each teacher?

    • In the Curriculum Hub: use the filter or sort options at the top to find a teacher's courses. Click the arrow next to a course name to see its units, then the arrow next to a unit to see its lessons. Click any lesson to review what the teacher has entered. Anything a teacher adds is visible here right away.

    • On the calendar: click User Management, select the teacher, and open the Class Calendar tab. Click any class or event to see the lesson and activity details.

  • How do I archive courses we're no longer using?

    • In the Curriculum Hub, click the ⋯ (three dots) next to the course and select Archive.

    • Archived courses are kept indefinitely. To view them, check the Show Archived Courses box underneath the course table in your Curriculum Hub.

    • From there, you can also permanently delete a course if you no longer need it.

    • Teachers can find their archived courses, along with any items they've moved to Trash, by clicking Archive & Trash.

    • Items moved to Trash are kept for 90 days before they're permanently deleted. Until then, click the ⋯ (three dots) next to an item to Restore it or select Permanently Delete Now.

  • Can I assign a course to several teachers at once?

    • Yes. In User Management, check the box next to each teacher, click Assign courses, select the course(s), choose Can view or Can edit from the dropdown, and click Assign.

    • Teachers with Edit access share one course, so any edits they make appear for everyone with access. If you'd like each teacher to have their own independent copy, duplicate the course for each teacher and assign each copy using Switch Owner. For details, see our help article Admin How To: Change a User's Access to a Course.
