It's important to understand all the ways in which your viewers are able to vote on a Meter during live events. Meters can work similarly to polls where there is a direct question and two choices, or they can be a little more freeform by ditching the question and using them as a gauge. Because you can add an array of words, phrases, and emojis that count towards your choices in the form of accepted answers, there are many different ways viewers are able to vote on a Meter.

All the things you need to know about voting on Meters

  1. Viewers do not need to use a hashtag to vote on a Meter.

  2. Any word, phrase, or emoji listed as an accepted answer will count toward a vote.

  3. The left and right options count, you do not need to enter any accepted answers if you donโ€™t want to.

  4. Technically viewers are able to vote more than once on a Meter, however because of the way Meters operate, even typing in the same choice over and over won't allow viewers to rig a Meter. The dial may creep in the direction of the choice, but very very slowly. So you don't really have to worry about viewers being able to spam the chat to rig the vote.

Also because you can have many accepted answers that lend to a choice, there is potential for a lot more movement and outcomes then straight voting on a poll, for instance.

๐Ÿ“Œ While voting on a Meter can be done many different ways, voting on a poll requires a hashtag. Check out our guide to voting on polls to learn more about the rules.
