Setting the start balance

Here you can read how to set up the starting balance for the overtime and leave balance

Starting the plus/minus and leave registration might seem a bit complicated. Fortunately, in Eitje, this is done in two steps!

Set contract types

It's good to know that, by default, only employees with an hours-based contract accrue plus/minus hours and leave. Employees with a zero-hour or payroll contract can also accrue leave, but only if you adjust the settings for this.

You can find these settings by clicking on the menu in the top right corner. Under the 'Contracts' section, you can adjust the settings for different contract types.

For each contract type, you can specify:

Enter startdate and start balance

If you want to start keeping track of the leave and/or overtime balance, you first need to activate this feature. This can be done immediately when you start using Eitje, or at a later time.

You can find 'Hour Balance' and 'Leave Balance' in the top menu under 'Hours'. For both, you can set the initial balance. You do so by clicking on 'Start balance'.

  • Startdate: From which date should Eitje start calculating the balance?
Hint: this is almost always the date you officially started recording hours in Eitje.

  • Start balance: You can set a start balance for each team member. This is the balance your team members have accrued before you started using Eitje. This can be negative, positive, or simply zero.

Note: You may notice that you cannot enter a start balance for every team member. This is because, by default, only employees with an hours-based contract accrue plus/minus or leave hours.

If you, at a later time, want to add a start balance for a team member, you can also do this in ''Start balance''. โš ๏ธ Note: The start date applies to all team members. It is best to leave the date as it is (provided that this date is earlier than the date the team member's contract starts).
