APP - Connect a Network Printer to the App

How to Connect a Network Printer to the App

This guide explains how to connect a network printer to the eMenu app using either Network Scan or the printer’s IP Address. If the printer and your phone or tablet are connected to different networks, the app may not be able to communicate with the printer.

Before You Start

First, make sure the printer is connected to your network using either:

  • Wi-Fi

  • Ethernet cable

Your phone or tablet should also be connected to the same network as the printer.

Option 1: Find the Printer Using Network Scan

Step 1: Log in to the App

Open the eMenu app on your phone or tablet and log in.

Step 2: Open Printer Settings

  1. Tap the three-line menu button in the top-right corner.

  2. Go to Printers.

  3. Tap Add Printer V2.

Step 3: Select the Printer Type

  1. Select Standard Printer.

  2. Select Network Printer.

Step 4: Scan the Network

Tap Scan Network.

The app will scan the network for nearby printers and devices.

Please allow up to 4 minutes for the scan to complete.

Once your printer appears:

  1. Tap the printer.

  2. The printer’s IP address will automatically be added.

  3. Tap Next.

Step 5: Send a Test Print

You can now send a Test Print to make sure the app is communicating with the printer correctly.

Once the test print is successful, tap Next.

Step 6: Name the Printer

Enter a name that makes the printer easy to identify.

For example:

  • Kitchen

  • Bar

  • Drinks Printer

  • Food Printer

  • Main Printer

The Printer Type can normally remain on the default setting.

Tap Next.

Step 7: Choose What the Printer Should Print

You can now choose which orders or items should be sent to this printer.

For example:

  • Full Receipt – prints the complete order.

  • Food – prints food items only.

  • Drinks – prints drinks items only.

If the printer is being used for both food and drinks, select Full Receipt.

If you have separate kitchen and bar printers, select the appropriate option for each printer.

You can also attach the relevant screens or sections to the printer where required.

Once finished, tap Finish.

Step 8: Final Check

Your printer should now appear in the Printers section.

We recommend:

  1. Sending another Test Print.

  2. Confirming that the receipt prints correctly.

  3. Turning on the Offline Prints toggle.

Your network printer setup is now complete.

Option 2: Add the Printer Using Its IP Address

If the printer does not appear when scanning the network, you can manually enter its IP address.

Step 1: Find the Printer IP Address

  1. Turn the printer off using the power button.

  2. Press and hold the Feed button.

  3. While continuing to hold the Feed button, turn the printer back on.

  4. Keep holding the Feed button until the printer produces a configuration receipt.

The receipt should display the printer’s IP Address.

It may look similar to:

192.168.1.100

Step 2: Enter the IP Address

Go back to:

Menu → Printers → Add Printer V2 → Standard Printer → Network Printer

Enter the IP address shown on the printer receipt.

Then send a Test Print.

If the test print works, continue through the same setup process:

  1. Tap Next.

  2. Enter the printer name.

  3. Choose what the printer should print.

  4. Select the relevant screens or order types.

  5. Tap Finish.

  6. Send a final test print.

  7. Turn on Offline Prints.

Troubleshooting

If the printer cannot be found or the test print does not work, check the following:

  • The printer is switched on.

  • The printer is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  • Your phone or tablet is connected to the same network as the printer.

  • The IP address has been entered correctly.

  • The printer has paper loaded.

  • There are no error lights showing on the printer.

If the printer and your phone or tablet are connected to different networks, the app may not be able to communicate with the printer.
