Connect a printer by WiFi to your Stripe S700 or Android device

Connect a receipt printer to the eMenu POS app on a Stripe S700 or Android device over your venue WiFi, then add it in the app. Includes common fixes.

The eMenu POS app sends each order straight to your printer. This guide shows you how to connect a printer to your Stripe S700 or Android phone or tablet by WiFi, and how to add it in the app.

Time needed: about 10 minutes.

Who does this: you or anyone at the venue with the eMenu login.

Before you start

  • Your Stripe S700 or Android phone or tablet with the eMenu POS app installed

  • Your printer, switched on with paper loaded

  • Your venue WiFi name and password

  • The instructions that came with your printer, for joining it to WiFi

  • Your eMenu login (the email and password you use for eMenu)

How it works

Guests order through your QR menu or the till. The order goes to eMenu over your internet connection, reaches your device on your venue WiFi, and the app sends it to your printer.

With WiFi, the printer and your device both join your venue WiFi, so the printer can sit away from the till, for example in the kitchen. It works on the Stripe S700 and on Android phones and tablets. If the printer can sit next to your device, a USB hub is more reliable during a busy service.

Common problems and how to fix them

My printer is not found
Check the printer and your device are on the same WiFi network, and that neither is on a guest network. Check the printer is switched on.

My printer stopped printing after working before
Your router may have given the printer a new address. Switch the printer off and on, then check it is still on your venue WiFi. TO CONFIRM: whether the printer needs removing and adding again in the app.

Tickets print late or not at all when the venue is busy
Busy WiFi can drop the connection. Move the printer closer to your router, or switch to a USB hub if the printer can sit next to your device.

I changed my WiFi name or password
Connect the printer and your device to the new network. TO CONFIRM: whether the printer also needs adding again in the app.

Other ways to connect

If this connection does not suit your venue, see:
