Enable Multi-Factor Authentication for Your Users

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security method that requires an additional authentication factor beyond your password to access your account. This enhances the security of your Empego account. Once this feature is enabled, you will receive a verification code via text message or email each time you log in. Entering this code in the designated field will securely grant you access to your Empego account.

Where to find multi-factor authentication for an "Owner" account

If you have an "Owner" account (e.g., you log in using your email address as your username), you can enable multi-factor authentication. Simply click on your name at the top right of the screen, then select "My Profile."

From the available tabs in the center of the page, choose "Multi-factor authentication."

This section allows you to check the status of your MFA. If the feature is disabled, you will have the option to enable it. If it is already enabled, you can modify or deactivate it.

Where to find multi-factor authentication for a "Technician", "Assistant", "Nurse" or "Pharmacist" account

If you have a "Technician", "Assistant", "Nurse" or "Pharmacist" account, multi-factor authentication can only be enabled by an "Owner" account.

The administrator can access this feature by logging into their account, clicking on their name at the top right of the screen, and selecting "Manage my franchise."

From the available tabs in the center of the page, they must choose "User management."

Next, they need to select the desired account from the list of associated accounts, then click "Edit."

A "Modify an account" window will open. The administrator must select the "Multi-factor authentication" tab.

This section allows them to check the status of MFA. If it is disabled, they can enable it. If it is already enabled, they can modify or deactivate it.

The remaining steps are the same regardless of account type. First, select "Activate multi-factor authentication" to activate the MFA.

Choose your preferred authentication method

When enabling MFA, you will have the option to receive your verification code via text message or email. Select "SMS" or "Email", then enter your phone number or email address accordingly.

Confirm your contact information with a verification code

Clicking "Next" will send a verification code via the selected method. Check your email or text messages and enter the code to confirm activation.

Once confirmed, your multi-factor authentication is successfully enabled!

A text message or email will be sent for each login attempt to ensure that you are the authorized user accessing your Empego account.

Modifying multi-factor authentication

If you need to update your authentication details, go to the "Multi-factor authentication" tab. You will see that MFA is currently activated.

Click "Modify multi-factor authentication" to update your information.

You can change your preferred communication method (SMS or email) or enter new contact details in the modification window.

A verification code will be sent to confirm the new contact information.

Deactivate multi-factor authentication for your account

If you wish to disable MFA for your Empego account, go to the "Multi-factor authentication" tab. You will see that MFA is currently activated.

Click "Deactivate multi-factor authentication" to deactivate it.

A verification code will be sent to confirm the deactivation.

If you no longer have access to the phone number or email address linked to your multi-factor authentication (MFA), please contact the Empego Support Team at support@empego.ca so we can assist you in removing MFA from your account.
