Splash Sports offers two main Self-Managed (Entertainment-Only) contest formats for NHL. These formats allow commissioners to run contests using Splash tools while managing payments and payouts outside of the platform.
Available NHL EO Contest Formats
NHL Pick’em
Participants select winners for scheduled NHL games each week
Points are awarded based on correct picks
Multiple format options available:
Standard (equal points per pick)
Best Bets (highlight a top pick)
Confidence Points (assign weighted picks)
Best for:
Groups that want a weekly, ongoing contest with consistent engagement throughout the season.
NHL Team Survivor
Participants pick one team to win each slate (day or week)
If the selected team wins, they advance
If the team loses, ties, or no pick is made, the entrant is eliminated
Typically, teams can only be used once (based on settings)
Last remaining entrant wins
Best for:
Groups looking for a knockout-style contest with increasing difficulty each round.
Key Differences
Feature | NHL Pick’em | NHL Team Survivor |
Gameplay Style | Weekly picks | Elimination format |
Number of Picks | Multiple per week | One per slate |
Difficulty | Moderate | Increases over time |
Winner Determination | Total points | Last remaining entrant |
Important Notes
Both formats are Self-Managed (EO)
Commissioners are responsible for collecting entry fees and distributing payouts externally
Format selection should be made based on your group’s preferred play style
Key Reminder
If your group prefers consistent weekly play, go with Pick’em. If you want a high-stakes, elimination-style contest, Team Survivor is a great option.
