Account & Verification Requirements for Private (Self-Managed) Contests

Whether you need an account to join, and whether that account needs to be verified, for Private (Self-Managed) contests.

Do I Need an Account?

Yes, all users must create a Splash account or log in with their RYP/OFP email address and password to join any contest.

Creating an account allows you to:

  • Join contests

  • Make and manage picks

  • View standings and reports

  • Access your entries

Do I Need to Verify My Account?

No — account verification is not required if you're only participating in Private (Self-Managed) contests. There's no payment or identity verification needed to create an account or join.

When Verification Is Not Required

  • Playing in Private (Self-Managed) contests

  • No entry fees or payouts handled through Splash

  • To participate, navigate to My Contests > Active

When Verification Is Required

You'll need to verify your account if you:

  • Participate in Splash-managed (real-money) contests

  • Make deposits or withdrawals

  • Reach certain regulatory or tax thresholds

Verification may involve submitting documents for review. Most requests are processed quickly, though some cases may require additional review by the Trust & Safety team.

Summary

  • Private (Self-Managed) contests: an account is required, but no verification is needed

  • Real-money contests or withdrawals: verification is required

If you plan to switch to real-money contests in the future, you'll be prompted to complete verification at that time. Once verified, you'll be cleared to deposit funds and participate in contests that require it.
