Check out guides on how to physically set up your Thiamis, and how to generally add a sensor in Environet.

Below you'll see the process step by step for the RAE series of sensors as well as tips for troubleshooting and understanding model specific features.

Setup Instructions:

  1. Connect a 12V power supply to the 3 pole Euroblock connector or 5V power supply to either of the USB ports.

  2. Plug the RS-232 splitter cable into the RAE's RS-232 port on the bottom. Also connect power to the RAE Travel Adapter barrel plug.

  3. Connect the other end of the cable directly to the Thiamis 1000's RS-232 port.

  • Note which sensor is connected to each letter port for configuring in Environet when Adding Sensors.

Errors

When the RAE is not reporting, check the configuration page or hover over the red status indicator for more information.

Timeout

The RAE has not responded to the requests made by the Thiamis and has timed out. It will continue to attempt communication but you can run through the general Troubleshooting Sensors steps to address common problems.

Tips on Specific Models:

All RAEs

The RAEs' reported measurement is a snapshot or instantons reading of the instrument's output at that time.

All RAEs use the travel charge / PC adapter (RAE PN M01-3021-000) which must be supplied power via the barrel plug in order for the adapter to transmit data.

Ensure the unit is set to P2P mode. Enter Programming Mode by pressing and holding [MODE] and [N/-] buttons. Then navigate the onboard menus: Monitor Setup > Real Time Protocol > P2P mode.
