Test an email method

Guidance on how to test email authentication once configured

Once you have carried out the necessary setup steps to validate emails, you can revisit the tool to test that emails are being correctly sent and received.

AWS

Load the testing tool by clicking on Admin, followed by System/Security Settings then Validate Emails.

For each domain, it will show the status of Success or Failed for:

  • Configuration of AWS

  • MAIL from Status

  • DKIM Status

If any of the items show as failed, you will need to verify and check the entries on your DNS and update as required. A failure will look like this in the tool:

Testing Domains Internally and Externally

If you see Success against the configuration, you can now test the emails to ensure that they send and receive correctly. You can do this against each domain and test internal and external domains separately for each one:

Alternatively, you can test all domains at the same time either internally or externally using the buttons at the bottom of the screen

When testing domains, you'll need to choose a Test Email Domain and a Test Email Recipient and click Send.

The recipient will then receive an email. They simply need to click the link in the email. Once they click the email, they will be shown a simple page to confirm the test has been successful.

If you revisit the tool (you may need to refresh), the test will now report as successful. Repeat until all tests are successful.

If using the Reply To (Basic or Advanced), the tool works in the same way with the exception of not showing the AWS status. Complete the tests for each domain used as per the instructions above.
