A Safety Tracking link lets anyone follow your training live in a web browser on their phone or computer, without the Equilab app or an account. Use it for a partner or parent who doesn't use Equilab, or to let several people follow you at once.
⭐ This is a Premium feature. You need Premium to share a Safety Tracking link, but the people you send it to don't need Equilab. See Start Premium or a free trial.
Before you start
Turn on Safety Tracking. See Set up Safety Tracking and add Safety Contacts.
A Safety Tracking link works for one training. Send a new link before every training, before you tap Start tracking.
Keep mobile data on during the training. Your followers see your position only while your phone is online.
Check that your phone settings are right for Equilab. If battery settings limit Equilab, Safety Tracking might not work well. See Essential Device & App Settings for Equilab to Work Properly.
Send a Safety Tracking link
Go to the Track tab.
Tap Share, next to Safety Tracking.
In the share menu, choose how to send the link, for example a text message or an email, and who to send it to.
When you're ready to ride, tap Start tracking.
The people who got the link tap it to open it in a web browser. They can follow your position on a live map while you ride. You can send the same link to several people, and they can all follow you at the same time.
Link followers don't get alerts
People following a Safety Tracking link only see the live map. They don't get any notifications: no message when you start or stop, and no Safety Alarm when you stop moving. Only Safety Contacts in the Equilab app get alerts.
If a family member or friend should be alerted, ask them to create a free Equilab account and become friends in Equilab, then add them as a Safety Contact. See Set up Safety Tracking and add Safety Contacts.
If your followers can't see you
Check these in order:
Safety Tracking was on. On the Track tab, tap Safety Tracking and check that it shows Safety Tracking Active before you start.
They have the link for this training. A Safety Tracking link works for one training only. Send a new link before each training.
The link opened in a browser. Ask them to tap the link so it opens in a web browser on their phone or computer.
Your phone was online. Your followers see your position only while you have mobile data and signal.
Your phone settings are right for Equilab. If battery settings limit Equilab, Safety Tracking might not work well. Check your settings in Essential Device & App Settings for Equilab to Work Properly.
If your followers still can't see you, contact support and include the date and time of the training and how you sent the link.
