Summary
This guide explains how to use Eve’s Respond to Discovery Requests skill to draft responses quickly and easily by using our engineered prompts and your firm’s blueprints.
Step 1: Accessing Respond to Discovery Requests Skill
From the Skills table, click on the Respond to Discovery Requests tile in the first row.
⬇️
Step 2: Select the Type of Discovery Response Needed
Select one response type—interrogatories, requests for production, or admissions—and then click Next.
Step 3: Upload or Select the Discovery Propounded by the Defense
You can search for the discovery document by name, or check the appropriate files within Eve, or upload files to Eve if they are not yet in your matter.
Step 4: Select or Create a Blueprint to Draft Responses
If you have a blueprint you want Eve to use to draft the discovery responses, select the appropriate blueprint. If you don’t have a blueprint, you can create one.
To create a new blueprint, click the blue Create Blueprint button. Upload two complete DOCX documents for Eve to analyze structure, tone, style, and formatting. Name your blueprint and share it across the account. Eve will generate the blueprint and select it after you create it. Click Next.
Step 5: Select Documents to Draft Responses
Select the documents Eve should use in order to respond to the discovery requests. Some examples include:
Case overviews, consult notes or data sheets: Case overviews such as consult notes or data sheets provide excellent summarized information that gives Eve helpful background on the case, the causes of action being pursued, as well as case strategy.
Previous correspondence: Sometimes it can be helpful for Eve to have background on previous interaction between you and the opposing counsel
Key evidence: Crucial pieces of evidence can provide Eve with additional information to draw upon when drafting, like medical records or a police report.
💡 Pro Tip: Although you want to include all crucial information, remember that less is more! Be careful about uploading too much information - too much information can cause Eve’s answers to be unfocused.
For more information on uploading documents to Eve click here.
Once you’ve selected all the documents, click “Draft Discovery Response.”
Step 6: Editing responses (as needed)
Be prepared to iterate—ask Eve to adjust style or content as needed. If a response isn’t right, revise and try again. For tips on effective iteration, read more below.
💬 Example Message: Can you respond again, but make sure that you are prioritizing making objections. Go through these responses and find any other areas that we could raise an objection to.
Continue to iterate with Eve as needed to get the responses that you are looking for.
You may need to provide additional context for Eve. Upload more information to your session via the left-hand panel. Following these steps will help you respond to discovery in minutes!
