Floorplans

Use Floorplans to build detailed layouts inside structures while keeping your overall event map clean and easy to navigate. Floorplans allow you to place smaller items inside a structure and hide these details when viewing the wider map.

Creating & Editing a Floorplan

To start building a floorplan:

  1. Find the structure you want to work inside on your map.

  2. Right-click on the structure.

  3. Select Edit Floorplan.

  4. EventLab will automatically zoom in and centre the structure, rotating the view to right angles to make editing easier.

  5. Start placing objects and equipment inside your floorplan as you normally would on the map.

You can add individual objects, use bulk placement tools and arrange your equipment within the structure.

TIP: Floorplan editing mode makes it much easier to create detailed layouts, particularly when placing rows of tables, chairs or other repeated infrastructure.

Floorplan Visibility

You can control whether the contents of your floorplans are visible using the Floorplan Views button in the bottom toolbar.

Choose between three options:

  • Floorplans Visible: Show all items within all floorplans.

  • Floorplans Hidden: Hide all items within floorplans, while keeping the structures themselves visible.

  • Select Floorplans Visible: Choose which floorplans to show or hide individually.

Select Individual Floorplans

When Select Floorplans Visible is enabled, a lock/unlock icon will appear on each structure containing a floorplan.

Click the icon to toggle the visibility of that structure's internal items.

This allows you to show the contents of some structures while keeping others hidden.

TIP: Hide floorplan contents when working on your overall event layout. For example, you may not need to see every table and chair inside a marquee when planning roads, fencing or other site infrastructure. This also helps improve map performance.

Note: When floorplan contents are visible (either Floorplans Visible or Select Floorplans Visible), the structure's Display Label will not appear on the map.

Adding Items Directly into a Floorplan

You don't need to enter Floorplan Edit Mode every time you want to add an item to a structure.

You can add items directly from your main map:

  1. Select an item from the Item Library, or select an existing object on your map.

  2. Place or move the item inside a structure that has a floorplan.

  3. A pop-up will appear asking whether you'd like to add the item to the floorplan.

  4. Confirm to add the item to that structure's floorplan.

This is useful for quickly adding or moving equipment into structures without switching into Floorplan Edit Mode.

Floorplans in Equipment Manager

You can organise equipment by its parent structure in the Equipment Manager using the Group by Structure option.

  1. Open the Equipment Manager.

  2. Find the Group By dropdown.

  3. Select Structure.

Equipment placed within floorplans will now be grouped under their corresponding structures.

For example, if you have a marquee containing tables, chairs and staging, these items will appear grouped under that marquee.

This makes it easier to review equipment requirements for individual structures and keep your equipment lists organised.

Save & Reuse Floorplan Fitouts

You can save a completed floorplan as a reusable Fitout, allowing you to apply the same internal layout to other structures without rebuilding it from scratch.

This is particularly useful for standardised layouts such as greenrooms, production offices, bars or backstage areas that you use across multiple events.

Save a Fitout

Once you've created your floorplan:

  1. Select the structure containing your completed floorplan.

  2. In the right-hand panel, click the three-dot menu (⋮).

  3. Select Save Fitout.

  4. Give your fitout a name.

  5. Save your fitout for future use.

Update an Existing Fitout

If you make changes to a saved fitout, you can update it to reflect your new layout.

  1. Select the structure containing the updated floorplan.

  2. In the right-hand panel, click the three-dot menu (⋮).

  3. Select Update Fitout.

Apply a Saved Fitout

To reuse an existing layout in another structure:

  1. Select the structure you want to apply the fitout to.

  2. In the right-hand panel, click the three-dot menu (⋮).

  3. Select Apply Fitout.

  4. Choose the saved fitout you want to use.

Your saved layout will be applied to the selected structure, saving you from having to place every object individually.

TIP: Create a library of standard fitouts for frequently used spaces, such as greenrooms, production offices and hospitality areas. Build each layout once, then quickly reuse it whenever you need it.

Export a Floorplan

You can export an individual floorplan as a PDF, making it easy to share detailed internal layouts with suppliers, contractors or your team.

To export a floorplan:

  1. Select the structure containing the floorplan on your map.

  2. Open the right-hand panel.

  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner.

  4. Select Export Floorplan.

  5. Follow the steps to export your floorplan as a PDF.

Tips for Using Floorplans

  • Use Floorplan Edit Mode when building detailed internal layouts, particularly for bulk object placement.

  • Hide floorplan contents when working on your wider site layout to reduce clutter and improve performance.

  • Select individual floorplans when you only need to see the contents of certain structures.

  • Add items directly from the main map for quick updates without entering Floorplan Edit Mode.

  • Group by Structure in Equipment Manager to see equipment organised under its relevant structure.

  • Export floorplans to share detailed marquee layouts, seating arrangements or equipment placement plans without needing to export your entire event map.

TIP: Floorplans are particularly useful for large events with multiple marquees or structures, allowing you to maintain detailed internal layouts without overwhelming your main event map.
