Connect an External Scanner for Check-In

You can streamline your event check-in process by connecting an external scanner to the Evey Check-in mobile apps. These apps are available for:

Each user who checks in attendees will use a separate account, which you can create directly from the Shopify app dashboard.


Using External Scanners

The Evey Check-in apps support most major external barcode scanners. Here's what you need to know to get started:

Bluetooth (HID Mode) Required

Scanners must support Bluetooth HID mode, which allows them to act like a keyboard. This is typically the default mode for most devices.

Tip: If scanning doesn’t work initially, consult your scanner’s manual and enable HID mode.


Speed & Performance Settings

For best results, look for and enable any settings related to faster data transmission. This setting may be labeled Transfer Rate or Fast Mode.

  • Example:
    Tera brand scanners can be set to “Fast” transfer rate by scanning a special configuration barcode found in the user manual.


Using a Socket Mobile Scanner (Apple Devices Only)

If you're using a Socket Mobile scanner (the same model used in Shopify POS setups) with an Apple device, you can take advantage of:

  • Direct scanning integration for improved performance

  • HID mode support if you prefer using it as a Bluetooth keyboard
