Claim Edit Header — Secondary Adjusters, Claim Share, and Export Options

Reference guide for the links in the Claim Edit header bar: Secondary Adjusters, Secondary Claims Reps, Claim Share, Duplicate Claim, Import Assignment, Export to Vedder, Download Simsol, Quick Notes, Quick Timelog, and Claim Edit History.

Overview

When you open a claim for editing, a header bar appears above the claim form with a row of action links. These links provide quick access to secondary assignments, claim sharing, data export, and utilities like Quick Notes and Quick Timelog. This article covers every link in the Claim Edit header.

Assignment and Sharing Links

Manage this Claim — Returns you to the full Manage Claims view for this claim, where you can access documents, reports, contacts, and other claim-level functions outside the edit form.

Secondary Adjusters — Opens a panel where you can assign additional adjusters to the claim beyond the primary adjuster. Secondary adjusters can view and work on the claim alongside the primary adjuster. This is commonly used when a claim requires multiple inspections (for example, a building adjuster and a contents adjuster) or when a senior adjuster assists on a complex file.

Secondary Claims Reps — Similar to Secondary Adjusters, this link lets you assign additional claims representatives to the claim. Claims reps handle the administrative and communication side of the claim (for example, coordinating with the carrier, managing correspondence) rather than performing field inspections.

Claim Share — Opens the Claim Share dialog, which lets you grant access to the claim to users who would not normally see it based on their branch or role permissions. Use Claim Share when a user from another branch needs to view or work on a claim that falls outside their standard access. Shared access is claim-specific and does not change the user's overall permissions.

Duplication and Import

Duplicate this Claim — Creates a copy of the current claim with a new claim number. The duplicate carries over the insured's information, loss location, and other data from the original claim. This is useful for supplemental claims, reopened claims, or situations where a new claim must be created with substantially the same data as an existing one. Review the duplicated claim carefully and update any fields that differ from the original.

Import Assignment — Imports assignment data from an external source into the current claim. This link is used when claim assignments originate from an outside system or carrier portal and need to be pulled into Evolve.

Export Options

Export to Vedder Software — Exports the claim data in a format compatible with Vedder Software's adjusting and billing system. Use this when your workflow requires sending claim data to Vedder for estimate preparation or fee schedule processing. See Integrations for more on third-party connections.

Download Simsol File — Downloads a single Simsol import file for this claim. The file pre-populates claim data in the Simsol estimating application, allowing the adjuster to begin their estimate without re-entering insured and loss information.

Download Simsol File (Multiple) — Downloads Simsol import files for multiple claims at once. This is useful during catastrophe deployments when an adjuster is assigned a batch of claims and needs Simsol files for all of them.

Utilities

Quick Notes — Opens the Quick Notes popup, a fast way to add a note to the claim without navigating away from the edit screen. See Quick Notes for full details on note categories, types, and the popup interface.

Quick Timelog — Opens the Quick Timelog popup, where you can log time spent on the claim without leaving the edit screen. See Quick Timelog for details on time categories and entry options.

Claim Edit History — Opens a log of all changes made to this claim, showing who made each change, when it was made, and what was modified. This audit trail is essential for compliance, dispute resolution, and quality assurance.

Tips

  • Secondary Adjusters and Secondary Claims Reps do not replace the primary adjuster — they supplement the team. The primary adjuster remains the claim owner for reporting and billing purposes.

  • Claim Share is scoped to the individual claim. If you need to share access to multiple claims, you must share each one separately.

  • Before using Duplicate this Claim, verify that your organization's workflow permits duplicates. Some carriers require unique claims and do not accept duplicated records.

  • The Claim Edit History is read-only. If an incorrect change was recorded, correct the field and save — the history will show both the error and the correction.

  • Quick Notes and Quick Timelog are also accessible from the Manage Claims grid, so you do not need to open the claim edit form to use them.
