Overview
Evolve offers two geographic assignment tools accessible from the Manage Claims search bar: Assign by ZIP and Assign by Map. Both tools help managers distribute claims to adjusters based on the loss location, ensuring that the closest or most appropriate adjuster receives the assignment. These tools are especially valuable during catastrophe events when large volumes of claims arrive simultaneously and need to be distributed across a field team quickly.
Assign by ZIP
The Assign by ZIP view lets you assign claims to adjusters based on ZIP code. When you click this link, Evolve displays a list of unassigned (or reassignable) claims grouped by their loss-location ZIP code. You can then select an adjuster for each ZIP code or group of ZIP codes.
This approach works well when your organization maintains ZIP-code-to-adjuster territory maps. Rather than opening each claim individually and selecting an adjuster, you assign an entire ZIP code's worth of claims in a single action. The time savings are significant during high-volume intake periods.
To use Assign by ZIP, click the link from the Manage Claims search bar, review the claims grouped by ZIP code, select the adjuster for each group, and confirm the assignments. Evolve updates all selected claims with the chosen adjuster.
Assign by Map
The Assign by Map view provides a visual, map-based interface for claim assignment. Claims appear as pins on a geographic map based on their loss-location addresses. Adjuster locations or territories may also be displayed, allowing you to see at a glance which adjuster is closest to each cluster of claims.
The map view is particularly useful when ZIP code boundaries do not align well with your adjuster territories, or when you need to factor in travel distance and route efficiency. You can select individual claim pins (or groups of pins) and assign them to an adjuster directly from the map.
To use Assign by Map, click the link from the Manage Claims search bar, wait for the map to load with claim pins, select the claims you want to assign, choose an adjuster, and confirm. The map updates to reflect the new assignments.
When to Use Each Tool
Use Assign by ZIP when your adjuster territories are defined by ZIP code and you want the fastest bulk-assignment workflow. Use Assign by Map when you need to visually evaluate proximity, balance workload across a geographic area, or handle situations where ZIP code boundaries split natural territories.
Both tools can be used in combination. For example, you might use Assign by ZIP to handle the majority of incoming claims and then switch to Assign by Map to reassign outliers or balance workload in border areas.
Tips
Both tools require that claims have a valid loss-location address with a ZIP code. Claims without location data will not appear in either view.
During catastrophe deployments, Assign by ZIP is typically the fastest way to distribute a large incoming batch of claims across your field team.
The map view may take a moment to load if there are many claims in the current filter set. Narrow your search criteria before opening the map to improve performance.
Assignments made through these tools trigger the same SMS and email notifications as manual assignments on the claim form, provided those options are enabled in the adjuster's profile.
