Manage Claims — HOVER Capture Column Workflow

How to use the HOVER Capture column on the Manage Claims grid to create captures, track approval status, and view completed 3D property models.

Overview

The HOVER Capture column on the Manage Claims grid integrates Evolve with the HOVER property measurement platform. HOVER uses smartphone photos to generate accurate 3D models and measurements of a property, which adjusters can use for estimating without a separate on-site measurement visit. This article explains the workflow from creating a capture request through viewing the completed model.

HOVER Capture Statuses

The HOVER Capture column displays one of several statuses for each claim, reflecting where the capture is in its lifecycle:

Create Capture — This link appears when no HOVER capture has been initiated for the claim. Click it to start a new capture request. Evolve sends the property address and claim details to HOVER, which generates a capture link that can be shared with the insured or a field representative. The recipient uses the HOVER app on their smartphone to photograph the property from multiple angles.

Pre-Approved — The capture request has been submitted and is awaiting processing by HOVER. At this stage, the photos may have been taken but the 3D model is still being generated. No action is required from the Evolve user — HOVER is processing the data.

Complete — HOVER has finished processing the capture and the 3D model with measurements is ready. The property dimensions, roof geometry, siding areas, and other measurements are now available for use in estimating.

View on HOVER — Click this link to open the completed HOVER model in the HOVER platform. From there, you can view the 3D model, download measurement reports, and export data to estimating software.

Creating a HOVER Capture

To initiate a HOVER capture from the Manage Claims grid, click the Create Capture link in the HOVER Capture column for the relevant claim. Evolve prompts you to confirm the property address and may ask for additional details depending on your HOVER integration settings. Once confirmed, the capture request is sent to HOVER and the column status updates to reflect the new state.

The capture link generated by HOVER can be sent to the insured via email or text message. The insured downloads the HOVER app, follows the guided photo process, and uploads the images. HOVER's processing engine then builds the 3D model automatically.

Using HOVER Data in Claims

Once a capture is complete, the property measurements from HOVER can be used to support the adjuster's damage estimate. The measurements include roof area and pitch, exterior wall dimensions, window and door counts, and other structural data. This information reduces the need for manual on-site measurements and can speed up the estimating process significantly.

HOVER data integrates with common estimating platforms. Check with your administrator to confirm which export options are available in your organization's HOVER subscription.

HOVER Capture List Alert

The Alerts Dashboard includes a HOVER Capture List alert that shows all claims with active HOVER captures. This alert helps managers monitor capture progress across the team and identify any captures that are stalled or awaiting action.

Tips

  • HOVER captures work best on properties with clear sightlines. Dense vegetation, unusual rooflines, or multi-story commercial buildings may require additional photos or manual adjustments.

  • The insured does not need to be a HOVER user — they simply download the app and follow the guided capture process using the link you provide.

  • Processing time varies depending on HOVER's queue. Most captures complete within 24 to 48 hours, but catastrophe surges may extend this timeline.

  • If a capture fails or produces incomplete results, you can create a new capture from the same claim. The previous capture data is retained for reference.
