What are the Externship Award classifications?

There are three classification levels based on the number of externships you've completed: Extern, Senior Extern, and Lead Extern. Each level recognizes your growing experience and commitment to professional development.

What is the Extern classification?

Extern is the foundational classification awarded upon completing your first externship. It signifies that you've successfully navigated a full program cycle, gained industry experience, and demonstrated the ability to meet professional expectations.

What is the Senior Extern classification?

Senior Extern is awarded after completing two externships. This classification recognizes your continued dedication to skill-building and your ability to apply lessons learned from one program to succeed in another. Senior Externs bring valuable perspective from having worked across multiple projects or industries.

What is the Lead Extern classification?

Lead Extern is the highest classification, awarded after completing three or more externships. Lead Externs represent the most experienced participants in the community, having demonstrated sustained commitment, adaptability, and professional growth across multiple programs.

Do I need to apply for a new classification?

No. Your classification updates automatically based on your completed externship count in our records.

Can I include my classification on my resume or LinkedIn?

Absolutely. You're encouraged to list your classification alongside your externship experience to highlight your level of engagement and achievement.
