Introduction
Fast Bundle is a subscription charge app working under Shopify's regulations, and because of that, the merchants must be familiar with how subscription charges work in Shopify. This document from the Shopify help center can help you understand our further explanations better.
Downgrade and upgrade
In Fast Bundle, what determines whether your move from one plan to another is an upgrade or downgrade is the difference between the fees of the plans. If you are moving to a plan with a higher subscription fee, it's considered an upgrade (and it's prorated as explained in the Shopify document) and if you are moving to a plan with a lower subscription fee, it's considered a downgrade, and based on the unused amount, you'll be offered app credits. So the difference between the fees determines whether the change is a downgrade or an upgrade, and changing from monthly to annual or vice versa is not determinative alone.
Refund
As you can find in this Shopify article, when you downgrade, the unused amount of the subscription fee will be refunded to you as "App credit," and you can see it on your upcoming Shopify billing.
Downgrade from annual
If you are on an annual plan and you are going to downgrade, it's not the default behavior that the unused amount of the fee comes back to you as the app credit, since you have been offered a discounted subscription fee for the annual usage by this assuming that we can count on this money for one year. That's why, if you downgrade from the annual plan, there would be no app credit refund for the unused amount by default.
But you can contact the support team if you want to be refunded for the unused amount of the annual plan. They will activate the refund for the annual subscription, and they will let you know. Then you can downgrade from the annual plan and get an app credit refund for the unused amount.
Cancellation
Once you approve a subscription plan (If not during a free trial), you'll be charged the full amount, and whether you cancel it or not, you'll be charged the full amount at the beginning.
If you cancel at any time during the subscription plan, you'll not be refunded or compensated in any form for the amount you have not used. The proration rule is only applied when you upgrade and downgrade from/to plans of the same type (Monthly/Annual).
Please note that the "Free plan" in our app is also equivalent to the subscription cancellation in these cases.
