Connect Fieldwork to your AI assistant

Learn how to link Fieldwork's MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini so your assistant can pull up customers, invoices, work orders, and more directly from a chat, using your own Fieldwork account.

Written by Beau O'Hara

Fieldwork runs a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, which lets an AI assistant look up your customers, work orders, invoices, agreements, and service routes directly — right from a chat, using your own Fieldwork account.

To connect any assistant, you'll need this address:

https://app.fieldworkhq.com/mcp

Pick your assistant below and follow its steps. Every connection signs in as you — the assistant only sees what your own Fieldwork account can already see, and there's no shared or admin-level key involved.

Claude

Plans: Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise (not available on the Free plan) Where: claude.ai and Claude Desktop

  1. Open Settings, then go to the Connectors section. (On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds this once from Admin settings → Connectors — everyone else just connects to it in step 5.)

  2. At the bottom of the list, click Add custom connector.

  3. Paste in the server URL: https://app.fieldworkhq.com/mcp

  4. Click Add. Leave Advanced settings (OAuth client ID/secret) blank

  5. Find the new Fieldwork connector and click Connect. You'll be sent through an OAuth sign-in — log in with your normal Fieldwork account, not your Claude password.

  6. In any conversation, open the + menu next to the message box, choose Connectors, and toggle Fieldwork on before you ask your question.

ChatGPT

Plans: All individual and workspace plans Where: chatgpt.com and the ChatGPT apps

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors, scroll down, and click Advanced settings.

  2. Turn on Developer mode. (On a Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspace, a workspace admin may need to allow this first.)

  3. Back in Settings → Apps & Connectors, click Create.

  4. Fill in the form: name it Fieldwork, and for the connector URL paste https://app.fieldworkhq.com/mcp. Add a short description if you'd like, e.g. "My Fieldwork customers, invoices, and work orders."

  5. Click Create, then complete the sign-in prompt with your Fieldwork account when it appears.

  6. In a chat, click the + button by the message box, choose More, and select Fieldwork to bring it into that conversation.

Gemini

Plans: Personal Google Account with Gemini Spark access Where: gemini.google.com, web and mobile

  1. Go to gemini.google.com and open Settings & help → Connected apps.

  2. Scroll to Custom apps for Spark and select Add a custom app.

  3. Enter the MCP server URL: https://app.fieldworkhq.com/mcp, then click Next.

  4. Follow the on-screen sign-in with your Fieldwork account. (If you're asked for credentials under Advanced features instead of being signed in automatically, contact Fieldwork support before entering anything.)

  5. To use it, type @ in a Gemini Spark task and select Fieldwork from the list.

Good to know: Google currently limits custom MCP connectors to Gemini Spark on personal accounts (18+, US) — it isn't available in ordinary Gemini chat yet, and isn't available on Google Workspace accounts.

Good to know

What it can do — Once connected, an assistant can look up customers, invoices, estimates, agreements, work orders, service locations, and run reports.

Trust prompts — Most platforms will warn you that you're connecting to a third-party server before you continue. That's expected — Fieldwork is the third party in this case, so it's safe to proceed.

Still stuck? — Reach out to Fieldwork support with the assistant you're using and where the steps stopped matching what you see on screen — connector menus move around as these platforms update.
