How to connect Claude to your Finstack organisation using Finstack's MCP connector. Once connected, Claude can read your Finstack reporting data on your behalf and answer questions about it — for as long as the connection stays active.
Before you start
The MCP connection is part of the Connector Pack add-on, which also includes the two-way spreadsheet sync (previously called Spreadsheet Sync). See our pricing page for details, or ask for a human agent in the chat to enable it for your organisation.
Only team members with the Owner role can set up the connection.
You need a Claude account.
How do I set up the connection?
Finstack is listed in Claude's connector directory, so you can connect directly from the directory — no manual URL setup needed.
Step 1: Open Claude's Settings
In Claude, click your account name and choose Settings.
Step 2: Add the Finstack connector
Go to the Connectors tab.
Search for Finstack in the connector directory (under Discover).
Click the + on the Finstack connector, or open it and click Connect to Claude.
Step 3: Connect
Open the Finstack connector and click Connect. This opens your browser and prompts you to log in to Finstack. If you're already logged in, you may be redirected automatically.
Step 4: Give consent
Review what the connection allows, tick I consent to Claude accessing my Finstack data via MCP, and click Continue.
Step 5: Authorize
Click Authorize to finish. The connection is secured with OAuth 2.1.
You can now ask Claude questions about your Finstack organisation.
Can't find Finstack in the directory (for example because your organisation limits which connectors are available)? You can still add it manually: go to Connectors → Add → Add custom connector and use the URL https://api.finstack.io/mcp/organisation. The connect, consent, and authorize steps are the same as above.
Quick start: a ready-made dashboard pack
To get going quickly, we made a Finstack Dashboard skill for Claude: a management dashboard (profit and loss against plan, cash flow, balance sheet, customers and suppliers) that Claude builds on your own connector. Take it as an example of what the connection makes possible, and change it as you like.
Download finstack-dashboard-skill.zip and keep it zipped.
In Claude, go to Customize → Skills, click +, choose Create skill and then Upload a skill, and select the zip.
Start a new chat and type Create my Finstack dashboard. When the dashboard opens, allow it to use the Finstack connector.

Why do I get an error when connecting?
"MCP access is disabled. Enable MCP access from the Add-ons page": the Connector Pack add-on is not active for your organisation yet. Ask for a human agent in the chat and we'll enable it.
"Authorization with Finstack failed" (with an error reference starting with ofid_): the Finstack user who is logging in doesn't have the Owner role. Only an Owner can authorise the connection. Ask an Owner in your organisation to set it up, or have your role changed in Setup → Admin → Team.
What can Claude access?
Through the connection, Claude can read the reporting data of your Finstack organisation — the same data you know from Reporting and the Excel Add-in. That includes your Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow figures across entities and cost centers, with drill-down to the underlying transactions, and your forecast scenarios. Claude uses this to answer questions like "how did revenue and EBITDA develop per entity this year, compared to budget?".
The access is read-only: Claude cannot change anything in your Finstack environment. The connection can only be set up by an Owner, runs via that Owner's Finstack login, and stays active until you disconnect it.
How do I disconnect Claude from Finstack?
Go to Settings → Connectors in Claude, open the Finstack connector, and disconnect or remove it there.
