Alerts can be a vital part of how our customers use Fleetpin, and it's handy to get these sent via text or voice message. Especially if you don't have constant access to your emails, or need to be urgently notified of potential incidents.
This article will discuss the basics on what to expect when setting up, and receiving, Fleetpin SMS/Voice notifications.
How To Set Up Your Number To Receive Alerts From Fleetpin
If you haven't set up any alerts before, we have an article here on how to do this.
In the alert set-up form, you can select the check-boxes for Text message or Voice call, then input the desired number into the field that appears. You can also select individual Fleetpin users if they have a phone number associated to their profile, or all users with a particular role in your organisation.
Please note that if any users have landline numbers on their profiles, any text message notifications will fail to send to them. We recommend adding their mobile number manually to the alert, or updating their profile to use a mobile number.
What Number Will Fleetpin Alerts Come from?
Voice calls for Fleetpin alerts will come from +64 3 588 5037.
Text messages for Fleetpin alerts will come from the short code 5290 for New Zealand numbers, and the ID: Fleetpin for Australian numbers.
You can save these numbers as contacts in your phone if you'd like, as this will make it easier to recognise when you're getting alert notifications.
Critical Alerts
Many of our users have requested that we add location details to our SMS notifications (similar to what is shown in our email ones), for better health and safety monitoring.
We have now added a Critical Alert checkbox to alerts, which will add a location map link to SMS alert notifications.
These messages will require extra texts to be sent, due to the increased message length. This means that every text notification for a Critical Alert will use up two of the allotted SMS credits, instead of one.
If you'd like to know more about notification quotas, please feel free to read about them in this article.
Critical alerts will be turned on by default for SOS, Impact, and Overspeed alerts, but you can add or remove this feature to fit your preferences and customise your alerts to suit you best.
