Understanding the ready to order materials toggle

This article goes through the order by vendor materials page, and specifically how the toggles and tabs work.

How Material Statuses and Filters Work on the Order by Vendor Page

Learn how material statuses and the Ready for Order filter interact on the Order by Vendor page. Understanding these differences ensures you know exactly where your materials show up and why.

Step 1: Go to the Order Material page. Select Order by Vendor to start managing orders by specific vendors.

Step 2: From the vendor list, click the desired vendor, for example, All Surfaces.

Step 3: Review how materials appear. Each material displays under a specific status tab such as New, Ordered, Backordered, or Canceled.

Step 4: Click the New tab to see all materials currently marked with the New status.

Step 5: Use the Ready for Order filter as needed. This filter works differently from the status tabs. It shows all materials marked as “ready for order,” regardless of their status.

Step 6: Remember: Materials display in the main section based on their Order Status (the tab they're in), not just the Ready for Order toggle. For example, if a material is New, it appears in the New tab—even if it’s also ready for order.

Step 7: The Ready for Order toggle is a separate feature that can cause materials to show up in multiple places. Turning it on for a material does not change its status; it only adds it to the Ready for Order filter view.

Step 8: After toggling Ready for Order on and saving, revisit the vendor (like All Surfaces) to see the material under both the status tab (e.g., New) and the Ready for Order filter.

Step 9: Remember—status tabs (like New) and the Ready for Order filter work independently. A material can appear under both if it’s marked as Ready for Order and still has the New status.

Understanding this distinction helps you avoid confusion when locating materials on the Order by Vendor page. The Ready for Order filter doesn’t change the material’s status tab placement—it simply helps you find what’s ready to go.
