How to Execute Pavement Assessments in FlowPath

Updated over 3 months ago

Conducting regular pavement assessments is crucial for maintaining your facility’s infrastructure and effectively managing deferred maintenance. FlowPath makes it easy to organize and execute these assessments using customizable templates and streamlined import processes.

Step 1: Prepare Your Templates

Before you begin, make sure to download the appropriate pavement assessment template from FlowPath. Depending on your assessment frequency (annual, biannual, or triennial), select the corresponding template. Each template is pre-filled with the necessary inspection items, including descriptions for each task.

  1. Customize the Template: Open the downloaded Excel template and customize it as needed. You may need to adjust certain fields based on your specific pavement types, assessment criteria, or facility needs.

  2. Save as CSV: Once you’ve made your adjustments, save the template as a .csv file. This format is required for importing into FlowPath.

Step 2: Importing Inspection Schedules

Next, you’ll need to import the inspection schedules into FlowPath. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth import process:

  1. Download the Import Template: Make sure you have the correct inspection schedule template. If you haven’t already, you can download the template from FlowPath.

  2. Prepare Your Data: Fill out the template according to your pavement assessment schedule. Each row in the template corresponds to a new inspection schedule that will be created in FlowPath.

  3. Export as CSV: Once the template is complete, export it as a .csv file.

  4. Upload to FlowPath: Navigate to the Inspection Schedules importer in FlowPath and upload your CSV file. Note that this import process will create a new inspection schedule for every row submitted—you cannot update existing schedules through this import.

Step 3: Importing Inspection Items

After importing the inspection schedules, the next step is to import the inspection items associated with each schedule.

  1. Download the Import Template: Ensure you have the correct template for importing inspection items.

  2. Prepare Your Data: Fill out the template with the necessary inspection items. Make sure to include the exact inspection schedule ID in the "INSPECTION FLOWPATH ID" column. You can download existing inspections from the inspections page to obtain the correct FlowPath ID.

  3. Attach Equipment (if needed): If you need to attach equipment to the inspection, use the "EQUIPMENT FLOWPATH ID" column to match the equipment correctly. You can download equipment from the equipment page to get the appropriate FlowPath ID.

  4. Export as CSV: After preparing your data, export the file as a .csv.

  5. Upload to FlowPath: Go to the Inspection Items importer in FlowPath and upload your CSV file. Like the schedule importer, this process will create a new inspection item for every row submitted based on the associated Inspection Schedule Name—existing items cannot be updated through this import.

Summary

By following these steps, you can quickly and easily set up your pavement assessments in FlowPath. Regular assessments, when combined with FlowPath’s organized import process, help ensure that your facility’s pavement remains in good condition, mitigating the risk of costly repairs and extending the life of your infrastructure.
