When a document fails to process into Epicor, the error usually falls into one of three categories: connectivity, credentials, or data validation. Here's how to work through each.
Check the connection first
Go to Manage > Connections, find your Epicor connection, and look at its status. If the connection is marked as unhealthy or offline, fix that first (see Troubleshooting a connection) — all documents will fail until the connection is healthy.
Common Epicor errors
Login failed / 401 Unauthorized — the Username, Password, or Company ID is wrong. Verify them in the connection settings under Manage Team > Connections.
User does not have API access — the Epicor user account needs API permissions enabled. Contact your Epicor administrator to grant access.
Company ID not found — the Company ID in the connection settings must exactly match the company configured in Epicor (case-sensitive).
Record not found / invalid field value — a field in the document (customer, part number, GL account, etc.) doesn't match a record in Epicor. Correct the field on the document and reprocess.
Verifying your Epicor credentials
Fluent's connection troubleshooter can generate a test curl command you can run to confirm your credentials work independently:
Go to Manage Team > Connections and open the Epicor connection
Click Test Performance or open the diagnostics panel
Use the generated curl command to test the Epicor login API directly
A successful response confirms Epicor is reachable with those credentials.
Still stuck? Email support@fluenterp.com with your Epicor version, the error message from the document timeline, and the results of the connection diagnostic.
