How to Configure Google Drive as an Attachment Type in Epicor Kinetic

Step-by-step guide for connecting your Google Drive account to Epicor Kinetic so you can use it as an attachment storage location.

If you'd like to store attachments in Google Drive instead of (or alongside) the local file system or another storage location, Epicor Kinetic supports this through the Attachment Type Maintenance screen. The setup steps are documented in the Epicor in-application help — this article walks through how to find them and what to expect.

Before you begin

  • You'll need access to Attachment Type Maintenance in Epicor Kinetic.

  • You'll need a Google account with access to the Google Drive you want to connect.

  • Admin permissions in Epicor are required to create or modify attachment types.

Step 1 — Open Attachment Type Maintenance

In Epicor Kinetic, navigate to the Attachment Type Maintenance screen.

Step 2 — Open the in-app help

From the Attachment Type Maintenance screen, click the help icon and select the first link in the help panel. This opens the Epicor documentation page for attachment types.

Step 3 — Review the list of supported attachment types

The help page lists all the attachment storage types Epicor supports. This is where you can see your options at a glance — local file system, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, and others.

Step 4 — Select Google Drive and follow the setup steps

Click on Google Drive in the help page. Epicor will display the step-by-step instructions for configuring the Google Drive connection, including:

  • Authenticating with your Google account

  • Granting Epicor the necessary Drive permissions

  • Selecting the Drive folder where attachments will live

  • Validating the connection

Follow each step in order — the help walks you through every screen and field you'll need to fill in.

Step 5 — Create the document type that uses this attachment

Once the Google Drive attachment type is configured and validated, you can create the document type(s) that will use it. From now on, any attachments saved against that document type will be stored in the Google Drive folder you connected.

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication keeps failing. Make sure the Google account you're using has access to the target Drive and that pop-ups aren't being blocked during the OAuth flow.

  • Permissions error after setup. Confirm that the Google account granted Epicor full Drive access (not just metadata-only) during the consent screen.

  • Attachments not appearing in Drive. Double-check that the document type is correctly linked to the Google Drive attachment type in Attachment Type Maintenance.
