Manually installing Flytedesk Digital

To activate a Flytedesk Digital unit, you'll need to link an ad unit on your website with a product in your Flytedesk Media Kit.

Step 1: Identify a unit on your website you wish to tag as a flytedesk Digital unit.

For example, a leaderboard or a medium rectangle unit.

*Only for ad shop users. Publishers interested in installing the script tag only need to install the script tag. We take care of making sure the ad goes live in the correct unit.

Step 2: Select a matching product in your flytedesk media kit.

For example, select the medium rectangle product in your Digital media kit if you intend to put a medium rectangle unit on your website. If you're unsure how to set up a Flytedesk Digital product, click here.

Step 3: Copy the unique script tag and class tag for the digital product.

To find your script tag and class tag, toggle to the 'Pricing & Variants' tab in your product settings, scroll to the right, and click on 'View Tag.' Watch the video below for assistance:

You will use the script tag and class tag to activate your Flytedesk Digital unit.

Step 4: Insert the script tag between the <head></head> tags of your website.

This step will require some HTML knowledge. If you are familiar with HTML/web editing, inspect the code on our test site for examples of how to embed the header script tag:

https://dailyillini.com/
https://tuftsdaily.com/

(Hint: If you use SNO Sites, SNWorks, or TownNews as your website provider, we suggest reaching out to them if you're having trouble installing Flytedesk Digital on your own.)

Step 5: Enter the class in the element on your website that contains the unit you identified in Step 1.

This step also requires some HTML knowlege. Inspect the code on https://collegian.com/ for a good example of how to embed the <div></div> class to an existing element (ad unit).

Completing Step 5 will link the unit with your media kit product and activate flytedesk Digital. After completing this step, you're all set. Remnant ads will start serving into the unit within 24 hours. If we sell a national digital ad for you, those ads will go live automatically after you approve them. You can also sell local ads into the unit via your Ad Shop.

If it's still not working:

  • Make sure your linked media kit product is enabled and visible to buyers.

  • Double-check that you've added a CPM rate to the linked product in your Flytedesk media kit.

  • Check the Digital property settings in your media kit (see below for help) to ensure the script tag is detected on your website, and you've entered a minimum number of impressions.
