Can I see members with a pending license?
With the exception of Illinois, your license must be active in order to see patients in that state.
Currently, you can see patients with a pending IL license (pending is defined as after the IL application has been mailed) if you have at least 1 active license in another state. In order to start seeing patients in IL with a pending IL license, please add an IL license as "pending." Please add a photo of the mailed application as proof of your application.
What states do not currently require a license or certificate to practice MNT?
CA, CO, AZ, MI, NJ and VA.
I will be traveling outside the state I am licensed. Can I still see my member?
To provide MNT, you must be licensed in the state in which your patient is physically located. As long as you are within the United States and have access to a quiet, HIPAA-compliant space, you can continue to see your patients.
I will be traveling outside the US. Can I still see my member?
Because of security and compliance requirements, you must be located within the United States. Please let the management team know if you plan to travel outside of the United States. You can email RDsupport@foodsmart.com.
NOTE: You will not be able to access any Foodsmart platforms while outside the US. Please ensure your schedule is frozen for the time that you're traveling outside of the US.
My member is traveling during our visit, can I still have the visit?
RDs must be licensed in the state in which the patient is located. If a patient is traveling and located in a state in which the RD is not licensed, the visit cannot proceed. Refer to the CDR’s telehealth guidelines related to licensure.
I applied for a license. Will I be reimbursed?
Yes, if Foodsmart has asked you to apply for a state license we will reimburse 1 of those licenses after being with Foodsmart for 90 days.
