FORA Labeling System

FORA's intelligent labeling system helps you organize and categorize your meetings automatically. Labels make it easier to find content

Updated this week

Overview

Labels help you categorize and tag meetings and other content—such as documents, email summaries, uploaded media, and Slack/Teams digests—for better insights, organization, discovery, and tracking. FORA's intelligent labeling system combines automatic AI-powered classification with flexible manual control to keep your content organized.

Setup & Management

Pre-Populated Labels

  • Every tenant begins with a set of pre-populated (seed) labels

  • These starter labels cover common meeting types and business categories

  • Labels provide immediate value without requiring initial setup

Admin Controls

Tenant Administrators have full control over the labeling system:

Accessing Label Management

  1. Navigate to Settings in your FORA dashboard

  2. Click on Manage Labels or visit: app.fora.day/settings/manage-labels

  3. Only tenant administrators have access to this page

Managing Labels

  • Create Labels: Add new labels by providing a name and description

  • Edit Labels: Modify existing label names or descriptions

  • Delete Labels: Remove labels that are no longer needed

  • Important: Changes apply going forward only and do not affect labels already applied to past content

Best Practices for Label Creation

  • Use clear, descriptive names that your team will understand

  • Write detailed descriptions to help FORA apply labels accurately

  • Consider your organization's meeting types and common topics

  • Avoid creating too many similar labels that might cause confusion

Label Visibility

  • All labels are visible to all users within the tenant

  • Labels can be applied to any content by any user

  • Labels appear on both the Recent and Meeting Detail pages

Applying & Removing Labels

Labels can be added manually or automatically, depending on the context and content type.

Automatic (AI-Applied) Labels

  • FORA automatically applies labels based on meeting discussion and content analysis

  • Typically applies approximately 5 relevant labels to each completed meeting

  • Auto-labeling reduces manual effort and ensures content is classified meaningfully

  • Automatically applied labels appear in purple

  • Automatic labeling works for:

    • Meeting transcripts and content

    • Documents uploaded to FORA

    • Email summaries

    • Slack/Teams digests

Manual Labels

Any user can manually apply or remove labels on various content types:

Viewing Content by Label

Using Label Filters

To find all content associated with a particular label:

  1. Go to the Summaries Page

  2. Use the label filter on the right-hand side

  3. Select the label name to see all associated meetings and content

Filter Benefits

  • Quickly locate content by topic or category

  • Track themes across multiple meetings and content types

  • Organize your workflow around specific projects or initiatives

  • Create focused views of related content

Label Color Coding

Understanding label colors helps you identify how labels were applied:

  • Purple Labels: Automatically applied by FORA's AI

  • Blue Labels: Manually applied by users

This visual distinction helps you understand the source of each label and make informed decisions about label management.

Troubleshooting

Common Questions

Q: I can't see the Manage Labels option A: Label management is only available to tenant administrators. Contact your admin if you need labels added or modified.

Q: Why didn't FORA apply labels to my content? A: Auto-labeling occurs after content processing is complete. If labels seem inaccurate, you can manually add or remove them to improve future auto-labeling.

Q: Can I create private labels? A: Private labeling is not available in this initial release but is planned for a future update.

Q: What's the difference between purple and blue labels? A: Purple labels were automatically applied by FORA's AI, while blue labels were manually added by users.

Q: Can I change labels on old content? A: Yes, you can add or remove labels from any content you have access to, regardless of when it was created. However, changes to label definitions only affect future content.

Q: How many labels can be applied to one piece of content? A: There's no strict limit, but FORA typically auto-applies around 5 labels for optimal organization without overwhelming users.
