Do I need to use a specific email app with Forage?
No, Forage connects to your Gmail account and works seamlessly with any mail app that you use to view emails in that account. You can continue using your preferred email app while enjoying Forage's inbox organization and your Daily Forage email.
Where does Forage manage my emails?
Forage manages your email directly inside your favorite mail app (like Gmail). It connects to your email account and works in the background to filter emails as they arrive. You can continue checking your email in Gmail, Apple Mail, Superhuman, Spark, or wherever else you check email.
How does Forage categorize my emails?
Forage uses AI to sort emails into preset categories. When it determines which category an email should be in, it will apply an Auto Label to the email. It learns your preferences based on feedback you provide. You can also set custom filters to decide how specific senders are handled.
What happens to my emails after Forage auto labels them?
A label is added to every email that Forage categorizes. Based on your filters, the email will then be left in your inbox or moved to a folder. All emails processed by Forage remain searchable from any email app.
Please note: If you set any category to "Move to trash", those emails will be deleted after 30 days when Gmail empties your trash on its own schedule.
Why are emails with labels still showing up in my inbox?
There are a few reasons why a labeled email may be kept in your inbox:
You've added the sender to your Priority List.
The Priority Filter determined that it was a high priority email.
You've created a custom filter that keeps the sender, or label, in your inbox.
You can change all of these settings in your Preferences.
Can I change the delivery time for my daily forage emails?
Yes, you can choose when your daily forage is delivered in your daily forage preferences.
Can I change how many daily forage emails I receive each day?
Yes, you can choose between Once Daily or Twice Daily summary emails. You can also choose when you'd like these emails to be delivered. You can adjust both of these settings in your daily forage preferences.
Can I adjust Forage’s default email categories to fit my needs?
Yes! Forage comes with default email categories like Calendar, Events, Transactions, Updates, Promotions, Newsletters, etc. These are designed to keep your inbox organized.
You have full control over how Forage treats these categories. Whether you want emails in these categories delivered directly to your inbox, summarized in your daily summary email, or automatically archived to reduce clutter, Forage lets you customize the experience to fit your needs.
You can customize Forage to fit your needs in your auto label preferences.
Can I create custom filters for specific senders?
Yes, you can create custom filters for specific senders! In your filters preferences. Click the “NEW” button in that section to create your own filter.
How can I report incorrect email categorizations?
If an email is categorized incorrectly, you can let Forage know in a few ways:
If you're viewing the email on the Home screen, click the menu on the email, and select "Change label".
When viewing the full email in Forage, click the menu on the top right, or the "Modify" button, then select "Change label".
When viewing the email in your daily forage, click the "Modify" button on any newsletter, then select "Change label". If the email is not a newsletter, there will be a menu next to the email that does the same thing.
How do "Keep in inbox", "Summary", "Auto Archive", and "Move to Trash" work?
In the auto label preferences, you will find three different treatments that can be applied to your emails.
Keep in inbox: Emails are labeled and stay in your inbox where you can see them
Summary: Emails are labeled, moved out of your inbox, and included in your daily summary email
Auto Archive: Emails are labeled and moved out of your inbox
Move to Trash: Emails are moved immediately to the trash
How does the unsubscribe feature work?
When you unsubscribe from a sender, Forage will follow the unsubscribe link in the email and complete the unsubscribe action for you.
It is common for senders to not respect your unsubscribe request, so we also add the sender to your Block List. Once on your Block List, all future emails from that sender will go directly to trash.
In some cases where the sender doesn't have an unsubscribe link, Forage will send an email to that sender to request that your email be unsubscribed from their mailing list. This is standard practice for mail clients with unsubscribe features.
When you unsubscribe from a sender, you will also have the option to Archive All emails from them that may still be hanging around in your inbox.
Will Forage categorize an email that I send to myself?
No, Forage will not categorize personal emails that you send to yourself. They will stay in your inbox.
Can Forage Mail delete my emails?
By default Forage does not delete your emails. Emails that are included in your daily forage are archived and moved to a label/folder (not deleted). Archived emails are still searchable in Gmail and visible in folders.
However, there are two scenarios where emails can be deleted:
If you set any auto label or custom filter to "Move to trash".
If you use the "Move to trash" action on any specific email.
The Move to trash option does not delete emails immediately. It puts the emails in Gmail's trash folder, where it will be deleted automatically by Gmail after 30 days.

Data Privacy & Security
Does Forage Mail have access to my personal conversations?
Forage does not process or handle personal conversations (emails from real people). Our AI focuses on categorizing and summarizing newsletters, promos, and notifications which leaves personal correspondence untouched and private.
Personal messages are identified using basic information like sender name, subject line, and unsubscribe link detection to ensure privacy. AI is not used on these emails.
If we add features in the future to help with your personal correspondence, those features will be opt-in.
Is my email data secure with Forage Mail?
Yes, security is very important to our team. We will never sell your email data or use it to train AI models. Our features are designed to protect your personal data while delivering groundbreaking functionality. Forage only uses basic information, like sender name and subject line, to identify and exclude personal conversations from AI processing.
