How to drive a mission

Updated over a month ago

Once you've successfully completed the test drive, you're ready to start driving missions. EarthRovers School Open World allows you to control EarthRovers stationed in different parts of the globe. You can experience a wide range of missions to enjoy and more challenging areas for the bot to navigate after completing the test drive.

How to start driving in the Open World

Drive Pass is your key to access and control our bots in the Open-World. Make sure you have one, then follow the steps below to begin driving:

  1. Visit Open World website and log in to your account.

  2. Choose a location where you want to drive.
โ€‹Green icon - a bot available to drive.

Red icon - someone else is driving the bot

Black icon - means the bot is offline and not drivable.

  3. Select a mission level. Each mission level requires a certain amount of Experience Points (XP). The harder the mission, the higher the XP required. If you're a new user, we recommend starting from Mission 1 to get a feel for the game.

  4. Once you've selected a mission, it's important to check how many checkpoints and how long the distance is. This will give you an idea of what to expect during your drive, then click Drive

  5. Choose your preferred controls, such as a game controller, driving wheel, or keyboard, and bind the keys according to your chosen control setup.

  6. Once keys are bound, click Proceed to drive.

  7. Before you can start driving, you'll need to accept the terms of use. This is a standard procedure to ensure the safety and security of all our users. Once you've accepted the terms, you'll be taken to the bot's feed where you can start your drive.

Helpful Tips

Our bot is designed to make your driving experience as smooth and safe as possible. To ensure this, there are a few tips you can follow while using our bot.

  1. One of the best ways to have a smooth and fast drive is to always follow the designated routes. Our bot has carefully mapped out the most efficient routes for you to take, so trust in its navigation and stick to the suggested path.

  2. For an even smoother driving experience, consider turning on your speaker while using our bot. This will allow you to hear the background noises and immerse yourself in the driving experience.

  3. If you're driving at night, it's important to turn on your headlights. This will not only help you see the route clearly, but it will also prevent any accidents from occurring. Safety is our top priority, so please remember to turn on your headlights before starting your drive.

  4. Keep an eye out for any obstacles such as potholes or uneven pavements. When navigating uneven terrain, it's best to stick to a speed of 2-3 to ensure your bot stays upright and avoids any potential flipping.

  5. Refer to the checkpoint hint located under the map for assistance in locating the checkpoints.

  6. If civilians try to play or touch the bot, please remain still and do not attempt to move or bump into the people with the bot.

  7. We highly recommend that you always keep your gaze directed far ahead as you move to avoid any potential collisions with passersby who may be incoming.

  8. If you encounter any delays or jerking motions while driving, simply reload the tab (press F5 on the keyboard), and you'll be back on track in no time.

  9. In the rare event that your bot accidentally flips or gets stuck and you're unable to keep driving. Just head to the menu and terminate the drive. Recording a video of your drive can be helpful. This will help us to better understand and resolve any issues you may encounter.

FrodoBots offers the privilege of autonomously visiting regions; however, harmful actions lead to warnings. Getting 3 warnings results in a permanent ban from the FrodoBots service but some actions can lead to an immediate ban.

What is a Drive Pass?

Drive pass is your essential requirement to have access and control our bots in the open world. Think of it as your very own Driver's License, but without the expiration date. Drive Pass comes with Life Points (LPs) and you will also be given complimentary Time Credits (TCs) that you need to start missions.
